Lyrics:
God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there
He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home
He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone
Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy
You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die
Let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home

I lost my brother in a traffic accident when I was 13, he was 21. Lost myself to that day. Broke my parents too. Now I’m 55, my parents are long gone, and I still miss him so. Sometimes when I’m swimming (we’re both good at it..) I imagine him beside me... He always wins, but what do you want, he’s 21..... At the end of the pool I talk to him... tell him how much I miss him. So, “let him live, bring him home”..... if only that was possible.....

I hope you can find companionship deep in your own soul. Remember how people have loved you throughout your life. Remember what brought you happiness and joy from your early life. Everything you've loved lives within you. As you do with Josh Groban, remember to watch movies and shows that you enjoyed earlier. Play the music from different eras in your life. Understand that more people are very lonely now than ever before. Set out on a pathway of learning and enjoying everything you come across. If it is possible, add some things to your days that you've never tried before. I know how hard it is. I know you can bring peace and comfort to yourself. I wish you well and I hope you find others to share life with.

You are so strong Jackie, and you never deserved for any of that to happen to you, I wish that it didn’t. It’s so hard to know that this can happen to anyone’s loved ones at any time in the blink of an eye, sounds like that’s what happened to you. I don’t know you, but I have so much love in my heart for you and I hope with all my power that you are happy more often than you are sad ❤️

My 91 year old dad and I listened to this song the last eight months of his life together. Each time it started to play he would stop what he was doing, close his eyes, and just listen. It brought him to tears each time. He had sung his entire life and was preparing to sing with Lubbock Chorale this January and February for a concert in March and then COVID hit and closed everything down. He died of natural causes in April and missed his last chance to sing for others just one more time. I now listen to it alone and think of my dad.

My daughter suffered from Manic depression but was misdiagnosed to be simply depressed. She was prescribed some meds that made her feel more suicidal. She took her life at 20 January 21st 2020. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t cry thinking about her beautiful short life. Joshes songs, especially this one puts my heart in a good place each day. I start and end my days with one of Joshes songs. They are a positive addition to my life.🥰

This is Jen. Thank you for you heartfelt replies…they make me feel good knowing other people care. Update: it’ll be 3 years since she past in January 2023. Last June 27th (Mayas Birthday) me and my family met at Ocean Shores Wa.. some came from Ohio and Utah plus Wa. We let her ashes wash away into the tides of the Pacific Ocean. My son and everyone there cried knowing that Maya is in a better place. I take comfort in knowing I’ll see her again after my life is done. She was an old soul who didn’t have fear in life, and before her young age of 20, saved a year to pay to help build mud water tanks and build twig doors for the the poorest women in tribes who had no husband or son to protect the girls and their mother and children of their own from rapes at young ages. While hiking 7-12 miles (with both predators Man and Wild Animals) after them as they carry baskets of water on their heads. Water to make as tea and with their cup of rice that will sustain a family of 4 for a week. Maya always cared for others more than herself. She meant a lot to many people. She competed world wide in traditional Irish Dancing for years and usually placed high near the podium at worlds in Dublin, Belfast Ireland 🇮🇪, and other countries such as London England, and Scotland. Until her father wouldn’t allow her to continue competing in Dance at age 17. Another favorite song of mine is “As she dances” sung beautifully by Josh Groban. One of my life bucket lists was to see Josh in concert, which happened last summer at a winery in the outskirts of Seattle Wa. He looked either tired or weary or cold from his tour here. But his radiant personality was felt, and our ears were filled with love and joy as he sung his songs! He is a blessing to this world 🌎 as was my beautiful daughter Maya. Thank you for reading if you finished this. I am now at peace as time heals. It’s natures way. ❤️❤️❤️

This has been my song ever since it came out. My son was sentenced to 25 years in prison for non-violent robberies to support a meth/fentanyl habit to help his depression. I lost him to the prison system. I have grieved for him for 20 yrs now. I want him home so badly before my life is over. He puts so much emotion in his songs, it's incredible. This song, for instance, is not easy to pull off because it relies on emotions and not really so much on technique. Chapeaux !! ❤

The incredible thing about this is what Josh says himself. He said that he was bushed after recording all day, and was ready to leave, when the pianist (also Producer) said let's give it a try. He really didn't want to, considering it's the highest song he sings. A tired Josh mustered what he had left and this was the result. I one take! Does this sound like the voice of a beat down tired singer???? The man just has a way of finding something more . . . Extraordinary!

I think he would be awesome as Jean Valjean, not just because of his willingness to sing this song, as well as the ultimate heartfelt outcome of it (this performance), but especially considering the ENORMOUS heartfelt way he sang You Raise Me Up, in which You Raise Me Up could also be a representation of one’s gratefulness and faith toward God, which is the basis of Jean Valjean’s “rebirth.”

As my parents enter their final months of living on earth, we were struggling to bring Dad home from the hospital last year after 3 horrid hospital episodes. But when we did, we managed to stabilise him, it has been 10 months now. This song just resonated so much with my mum’s pleas to bring home the love of her life…

Eponine Thenardier Oh come on. Josh Groban do this for a living. Hugh Jackman is more an actor than a singer. It's like saying Hugh Jackman is a better actor than Josh Groban. LOL.

Eponine Thenardier why can't we just enjoy both? Different voice types, different styles, really isn't a "better" comparison. and like Kelly said, Hugh isn't exactly a singer by profession.

I've heard so many singers do this piece but only this one sung by Josh is the only one that gives me chills. Thank you, Josh.

Josh groban was always “okay” in my book. This performance has swayed me. He is breathtaking.

Every time I hear this song I end up in tears. The first time I ever heard the notes of the tune, a friend was humming them as a lullaby for her small son. At the same time, a young man was hanging himself in his uncle's barn a mile or two away. I did not know the young man, except by a first name... I don't remember his face... I just sold him a pair of shoes. I know even his first name through a friend... but Tim was tormented, trying to be what his family expected of him. He even got married while still in college... but he was gay, and being married did not seem to change that. Tim took his own life, so close to where I was that night. Each time I hear this, I am the one singing and Tim is in my arms... a beautiful young man I didn't even know... dead because of not coming to terms with being gay and believing his family would reject him for that. Tim is in my arms every time I hear this, still begging God to bring him home, to the heart of God. That may already be done, but I was left without closure... so I keep praying....bring him home

@@paulhiggins8524 I hope you can deal with your turmoil and sadness in a better way than Tim. No need of your remark and I feel sad for you.
