The fact that they're using the blood money they sold Joseph for to buy their grain too.

I always wondered out of all his brothers he chose to arrest Simeon, but I have a few theories of why I think he did. 1) Because Simeon threatened him in the sheep field. 2) Simeon was the one who first snatched away his coat before he fell in the pit. 3) When the brothers sell Joseph in to slavery, Judah is about to reconsider and call off the deal, but Simeon talks him out of it leaving Joseph to be sold. 4) Because Simeon offered to pay for grain with the money they sold Joseph for.

I'd say a taste of their own medicine is the least that Joseph's brothers deserve. It doesn't matter if they feel sorry for it now or that some good would come of their stupidity later, what they did was beyond wrong.

Did you not learn anything from Joesph story. It's not about revenge it was about forgiveness in Gods eyes everyone is just as bad as Joesphs brothers and should be treated with just as much punishment as joesph's brothers. But people are forgiven and it's forgivness that makes you a better person.

CynderSpirit Luthy XD Yes. That is indeed the problem with that philosophy. Any god that makes morality fluid, and then considers all worthy of punishment for their actions, let alone actions not their own, is a Tyrant who by his own laws should be put to the sword. Any God that enforced such a belief has no right to rule over a species like Mankind. Of course, considering that you'd have to be a turtles all the way down sort of person believe any such being that could be called "God" would be like that in the first place, I'm not actually that sore about it. I'm just fascinated by people who can have such positive emotions and faith in that hypothetical deity... Whatever most people say, there is genuine substance and interesting facets in this religion. As a student of Humanity, one does find it fascinating...

Joseph has every right to resent them for what they did to him. Why do you think he had Simeon arrested? But then again, he didn't do it for revenge. He did it because he believed his brothers were still the horrible people who sold him into slavery when he was a boy. I just hope you know that bitterness and revenge aren't nearly as strong as forgiveness. The ability to forgive and move forward with one's life makes a person a lot stronger than the one who remains bitter their entire lives. But don't get me wrong, Joseph would NEVER have forgiven his brothers if they were still as stupid and envious they were when they kids.

5Mariner They ARE as strong, that's really the problem. Desire for Revenge is just one of the stronger emotions humans have, the desire to forgive is nothing compared to it. That's why forgiving is often so difficult... even if it is the better option some of the time. SOME of the time.

5Mariner Yeah, I always interpreted the scene in which Judah says "at home we have our father and youngest brother", Joseph was ticked because he thought "they're lying and saying I'm still alive so they can steal more grain!" (Keep in mind, he has no idea about Benjamin at that point), adding to the belief that Joseph still thinks they're the same horrible guys that sold him into slavery 20 years earlier. He doesn't believe that they have/can changed so he tells them to produce this alleged youngest brother, thinking that they couldn't and when Benjamin is brought to him, Joseph realized that they weren't lying about that and so he puts Benjamin in danger to see what the brothers would do and they say how guilty they felt about what they did to Joseph. After this, Joseph realized that they changed and they're remorseful for what they did and so he finally reveals himself and forgives them.

According to Genesis, Reuben defiled his father's maiden, and Simeon and Levi killed a whole village to avenge their sister Dinah. Probably why Judah is honored as the leader.

This is what the God-Man says: “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.” (Matthew 6:14-15) We can see clearly that those who refuse to forgive are at jeopardy of forfeiting their very own salvation since the Father won’t forgive them if they if refuse to forgive.

You have no power here. Joseph already forgave his abusive brothers who have sincerely repented. Plus, the God-Man, Jesus Christ, has paid for their sins by shedding His very own blood on the cross on which He dies an excruciating death. He has already suffered the punishment for the wrongdoings and abuse committed by Joseph’s brothers.

i hate this movies moral of forgiving abusive family members and being reunited again just because they are "biological brothers", people should be able to create their own "spiritual family" and chose who they want to become their brothers/sisters...
