To me,this was the deepest episode of Last Meals yet. The conversation, and the fact that he is such an empathetic guest. Every time Josh shared with him, the first thing he says is thank you for sharing. Such a genuine and nice guy.
Full note: the last two Last Meals have honestly felt like the most humanizing. Both Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Meghan Trainor have been so "Everyman" and "Everywoman" and raw and real (especially with their choices) that it's so grounding. These aren't just insane celebrities that are so high above us, these are truly still just people. This show has taken some great turns for showing that. Thank you, Mythical Kitchen.

My gosh I still have a crush on this man after all these years. I remember being 7 or 8 and seeing him in the movie Angel's in the Outfield. He was adorable.
JGL is such a real dude. His personal anecdotes are so relatable -- core memories of cereal and Saturday morning cartoons, Beatles albums, walking everywhere with a miniDV camera, etc. And it gives me hope hearing a voice of optimism for the future of ethical technology; I don't think of myself as a pessimist, but as a realist, it's hard to look at current trends and not predict a lot of disaster. I also appreciate his philosophy on death; I too don't believe in an afterlife, but living on in people's memories is absolutely a form of immortality. Just hearing stories about his brother makes me feel like I've met him. At the end of the day, all we are as people are just a collection of memories, so sharing them re-integrates us back into the great collective.

No GMM today and I still get the lingering of Link
Man, this episode made me so emotional. I've watched so many interviews but listening to Josh & Joseph Gordon-Levitt just go into the depths of his mind & heart over grief, loss of loved ones, and death this time around really hit me. I lost my brother 12 years ago and it was the same reason why I thought about death so often too. And to hear Josh you share what you did, it is a privilege and incredible that people like you choose to share & allow connection over it. Aside from acting, Joe has always been one of my favorite directors/producers since he clearly is so aware of the power of media and the controls. Truly a gem of our 90s generation. Thanks for all you do MK team.
I love how JGL is so real. No pretentiousness, No BS. Just a laid-back normal guy.
Genuinely so impressed with all his takes, it makes me happy to know some of the actors I grew up alongside are genuinely decent folks
Ya know I laughed when I saw the thumbnail and saw that it was ALLLL CEREAL but after watching it? I get it. Seriously. I have a LOT of nostalgia with my sister & brother watching TV eating cereal. It has A LOT of connections and memories. Thanks for unlocking that for me.
I ❤ JGL so much. In this format, it really struck me how well spoken Josh and Joe are. What a fantastic conversation!
This was such a great episode. I saw the “just cereal” thumbnail and was like “is this guy pulling our leg?” Only to realize the thought and sentiment put behind each bowl and the tribute to his brother. That, paired with the meaningful conversations, has immediately made this one of my favourite episodes of this show.
Love him! And mad props to Josh for doing the cereal calculations and figuring out that the healthy cereals are nutritionally the same as the "sugary" ones! 🤯
I’m surprised this wasn’t Link’s last meal. Just cereal. 😂😂😂
Not only is Joseph Gordon sooo handsome but he’s so smart and thoughtful. Respectfully, I’ve been sohhh attracted to him for years. What a hunk of a man. After listening a bit longer, I also admire his strength in talking about his brother. At first it’s so painful but as you keep doing it you realise it keeps them alive. Keeps their souls and memories with you.

Some of last meal's best questions creativity wise. Takes a lot of thought to generate thought provoking conversation from cereal segways.
I don’t watch every episode of this series, but every time I do it always amazes me how great the discussions are. I honestly believe no one does these interviews better.
As someone who has lost a sibling, the eating of his brother's last meal resonated very hard (though my sister's last meal was hospital food 😅, i definitely have a lot of her things - especially clothes). I also think that there is an important idea here... We may not all grieve the same in time/strategies/etc, but the sense and sight of someone else's grief (and process) can open doors we couldn't see ourselves. That's what I think happened w Josh and is happening to varying degrees in these comments as well. ❤ ... but yeah, the all cereal choice is wild but deeply relatable.
Perfect guest for this. Always loved his openness, really seems like a genuine guy
I expected nothing less from Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Last Meal

Josh, these conversations keep getting better. Thank you.
Loved him since his performance in 3rd Rock from The Sun, still a show I watch for comfort from time to time. Glad y’all had him on! Loved his simplicity in his choices, it was different and felt wholesome in a way
Joseph is an embodiment of modern art. This video is so abstract that it is ✨philosophical✨ af. Love it.
A testament to both of these humans. Their larger than life personalities made a brilliantly touching episode about memorium, life, death, pursuit of desire, and loving living centered around name brand cereals. When Joseph smiles after his bite of Crispix mixed with Cheerios, I couldn’t help but smile.
he’s a writer and producer so it makes sense he put a personal underlying meaning behind choosing cereal. you can tell it has alot to do with memories w his bro and the bliss in simplicity

I genuinely think this is one of the greatest shows on KZread. You take death, a topic so many people shy away from discussing even though it happens to everyone and then confront it head on with these celebrities we idolize giving them the opportunity to be real and humanized. Which in turn allows us to see we truly are all the same. Not only that but the questions are so well written, the research that goes into it, the food( when it’s not just cereal), and Josh’s incredible speaking and communicating skills. It comes together to form this show full of deep connection, laughs, relatability, and thought provoking entertainment. I find myself after every episode having to take a minute to process everything. Thanks GMK and Josh🖤
I can totally relate to the Cheerios / Crispix combo. In fact, I had this very conversation about cereals over the weekend. I think what it comes down to is that it was a “Spending the weekend at my Bunbie’s place” moment. She had Tupperwares full of cereals and it was always a mix and match. Someone Cheerios and Crispix were always a great combo.
