Joseph - A Study in God’s Sovereignty: Themes from Genesis with R.C. Sproul

When we encounter hardship in our lives, we may wonder whether God cares for us in the midst of our suffering. In this message, R.C. Sproul traces the life of Joseph and explains that what man may intend for evil, God ultimately means for the good of His people.

And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. Joseph was Rachel's son and Jacob loved Rachel the most. She was his original choice and he waited 7 years to marry her, but he was deceived by her Father into marrying the older sister Leah, and had to wait another 7 years to be allowed to marry Rachel. I suspect that is why Joseph was his favourite.

But didn't God sovereignly create us with free moral agency to have genuine fellowship with Him? I think Calvinists conflate God's sovereignty with absolute determinism?? @@kimberleywalski6290 Please allow me to explain. A person can believe anything based on faith (And just to clarify I'm generally talking about faith in the religious context aka Hebrews 11:1, NOT just a synonym for confidence or trust). A person could believe tall people are superior to short people based on faith, or that they have a million dollars in their bank account based on faith...doesn't make it TRUE. That's because faith has no mechanism by which we can reliably get to truth. You cannot use faith as a tool and RELIABLY discern what is true from what is not. Thus, logically, if a person truly cares objectively about what is true then they MUST discard faith right from the outset.
