"Be Holy as I Am Holy: Fear and Trembling" Great "Title" kind Sir. For the word "holy" has been interpreted many ways in religions and other entities. However, over 85 yrs of my 91 yrs, and reading my bible; and praying to Jesus for Wisdom, understanding and the Truth; I now believe the word "Holy" is this: It is "Set-Apart" from others and things. IE: There was a Heavenly "Holy Temple"; that King Solomon built. Then it was destroyed; and rebuilt by Ezra and Nehemiah. And also, there was a "Holy of Holies Room", IN the Holy Temples. And it was where the "Ark of Covenant" sat; and where "the 10 Commandments" and other Holy things were. And it was so Holy, that only "Levi Priests"; could go into the Holy of Holies' Room. I said all the above to say this: ALL Born Again's are Holy; the moment we become Born Again; by believing IN Jesus.. And set-part from non Born Again's who are NOT in Jesus. Thus, the Holy Spirit gave us a second being (Spiritual Birth); and yes we NEED to fear; what the Holy Spirit wants us do; AFTER the HS told us (in a silent voice), "not to Sin, when we're desiring to do it". But sadly, we often don't listen; and then we have "bad, bad" times. From Heavenly punishment. Oh yes. From the new birth, until death. So be careful brethren. For Jesus" loves with blesses". But he punishes too! Remember that! In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

Jesus is God almighty, but he is not the Father, nor is he the Holy Spirit, rather, he is the Son, the Word, our kinsman redeemer. The three of them are each individuals, yet they are one in every way. As I understand it, they agree on everything, and have done so for all eternity past present and future. God the Father alone knows when the rapture will take place. Except for that one thing, they are equal in all knowledge. Jesus and the Holy Ghost are subservient to the Father, and each of the three has their own role to fill in bringing to fulfillment the Kingdom of God, after the age of man has been completed. Those who accept Jesus are born again of the spirit, and become new creatures, alive unto God for eternity. Those who reject Christ will endure the wrath of God forever, in a place designed for Satan and the fallen angels who followed him and who were thrown out of heaven. That eternal place has enlarged itself to prepare for all of fallen mankind, who are ultimately found to be haters of God (all three persons). That judgement is just, and according to Gods word (the Bible) will last eternally. Become a child of God by accepting the truth about who Jesus is, and surrender your life to him. He will forgive you of all of your sins, and wash you spiritually until you are clean and pure and white as snow. You will be blessed and sanctified, and purified. You will live out the remainder of this life as a redeemed child of God. You will great fully follow his direction, and become a fruit bearing branch attached to the vine (Jesus). How can I know the will of God for my life? The comforting, satisfying answer you want to hear cannot be provided. This is a question that requires age and wisdom - by the time you know the answer you will recognize that the will of God has already been done in your life regardless of your planning. God directs our path. It may feel as if we decide which path to take through life - but we don’t. Our God directed path is like a long series of stepping stones - each one mapped out in advance to give us the exact experience we need to be the person God wants us to be - to touch others along the way at a time when he determines. Example: You will arrive at stepping stone 10,438 at the same time as Becky so that you may share the Good News and thus plant the seed in her heart - and others will come along and water that seed at a time also predetermined by God to give Becky the exact experience God wants for her to be the person God wants her to be. The will of God will be done. And you will have no idea what that looks like in your youth - so to ask “How can I know…” is irrelevant because whatever path you take, whatever decisions you make, are a part of the plan of God. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.

Yeah amen! I totally concur with this. I love how you articulately tease out a strand of wisdom that was touched upon in the sermon, And this is a very Ecclesiastes-inspired answer which I love (it’s my favourite book!) I realised that the will of God is not sth for us to ever know completely and fully of, for it is shrouded in mystery and certain parts of it God allows it to be revealed at the appointed time. The fullest and utmost answer to all possible question marks and exclamation marks in life has already been revealed- Jesus as the ultimate will of the Father. And as you say, by the time we methodically plan each and every one of our stepping stones, we have neglected the answer right before our nose which is to be holy (sanctify ourselves through every possible decision we do here including the decision of planning) as He is holy. Since the ultimate will and answer of God has already been revealed, and it is only a matter of time for us to see the ultimate will face to face, we begin with the end in mind. We begin with Jesus in all our decision making and intentions. Until we prize the scarification process ie the truth and character of Jesus to take root in our spirit, no amount of external preparation, planning, presentation and pilgrimage will satisfy and provide us with the real answers in Him. There will be no finality outside of Him, and the soul will continue to wonder aimlessly.

I desperately NEED the Holiness of God. The problem I face daily is my own wickedness. I know God has revealed through His Word and by His Spirit how truly evil ALL men are without His intervention; and I know that to be true of me. I acknowledge that the Sovereignty of God is real and that He is able to save to the uttermost. I know that ALL men who are Born OF GOD by definition are His children and will be led in the Way everlasting. There are ONLY two camps: the Saved and the Unsaved, the Sheep and the Goats, the Wheat and the Tares.Christ is King.

I am blessed man of God. This is a message that I received today and it's the Holy Spirit who has directed me to this message.Thank you so much.

Thankyou sir. My God has shown me in part his mind. And your message to be holy as he is holy confirms his message to me. To work out my salvation in fear and trembling is the way to salvation and holiness. To fear God is the beginning of wisdom. God's wisdom is my salvation. His holiness is my joy and hope.

R C is fantastic. He speaks and teaches with authority and simplicity and clarity. I’m confused and uncertin in regards to one of his beliefs ie there is an uncrossable chasm between the Catholic and Reformed beliefs in faith and works. Ive seen a lot of RC’s sermons and hopefully benefited from them but of late have also listened to a lot of short Sermons from the Catholic Bishop Barron He too a very gifted and inspiring teacher who also teaches with great knowledge and simplicity and clarity and orthodoxy. For all its scandals I could not dismiss the Catholics as a whole.

Thank you for this passage. I have Catholic friends who tell me I should be very afraid and work out my salvation, literally with fear and trembling - as though God has not saved me but is judging my every move - and even then, they tell me I will fall short.

@@clivejames5058 It’s a trap for the Christian to confuse judgement for sin with conviction, since “if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.” (1Jn.5) The cross already paid for it, and yet we are yet to be free completely from it. Hebrews 10:14 continues to rescue me. “For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.” I’m reminded of my judicial standing before him (perfected) and I’m reminded of the ongoing work of the HS transforming me to be like Christ (being sanctified). James tells us to “work out” bc our faith is not merely a profession with words - that would be empty and dead. Hope that helps.

@@clivejames5058 I should also add: that Jesus is *both* the Judge and the Good Shepherd. If you have been born again (John 3), then you are liberated from both religious perfectionism and hedonistic slavery. We tend to veer one way or another, but it’s a growth process, brother. Remember the rescue: “perfected” and “being sanctified”. 🙏

It's actually in harmony with the doctrine of predestination. We are called by God to seek Him and He gives us the desire and ability to obey the command. Hope that helps my friend 😊

You think he is in Heaven? Mr. Sproul was saved. Washed in the blood of Jesus! Saved through the free gift of salvation and Grace. And repentance of sin and total trust in Jesus alone for salvation, nothing else! He is in Heaven!

"Be holy as I am holy" if this phrase from God's mouth, then I'll say God is very mentally insane because God is an infinite entity where's human beings are finite being, therefore a finite being never can touch or reach into the infinite entity and never could be holy or good or perfect as God.

What the verse means is not that we become as Holy as God. It means that we become holy as a creature can. This is the same as the first commandment, "Love God with all your heart, your soul and your strength." When we do that, then we have reached 'holiness' God want in us.
