All life is suffering by its very nature. It only hurts when you cannot understand the truth of things,,there is no “you”…the destruction of the ego is our biggest feat here. Once you see things for what they really are-including the “self”, you can begin to understand,, “dependent origination” -and life gets easier and you get lighter and easier. You treat “people” kinder with the understanding that “few are born with little dust in their eyes.”✨✨✨All can come to this understanding, but not all will.

I would love to have a conversation about this with Lex😭✨This dude has a pretty close concept to what I know to be the truth,,but The questions Lex asked him we’re-from what I know -leading him more towards the truth, differing from what this man described. This man has a close concept but from what I know -it’s not quite the truth.

Ya, I remember sitting in my car about to go on an 8 hour drive and started his first Lex episode. When he explained what a nerd is as being someone that uses dialogue as a means for peer review of ideas as opposed to a bid for social power I was hooked. His rhetoric for diagnosing the mind is unprecedented. Definitely one of my favorite thinkers.

This is one of my favorite interviews, because they're both obviously extremely smart and nice, but they clearly misunderstood each other at times where I expected the conversation to get derailed and yet they both continued to remain calm and work through their misunderstandings. It makes me wonder if/when something like GPT-3 would be able to pick up on such subtle tensions/misunderstandings in a conversation like this...

I only recently subscribed to Lex's channel after watching an incredibly enthralling clip of Annaka Harris sharing her thoughts on the nature of consciousness and while watching the longer interview Lex had a couple of moments at the max where he didn't seem to understand what she was talking about. I didn't think much of it at the time but after watching several of his interviews I couldn't tell if he was misunderstanding clear statements and interrupting / derailing the conversation because he wanted clarification for his viewers, was thrown off base because maybe english isn't his first language or if he really didn't understand clear concepts. Dont get me wrong he's smart in his own way but some of the tangents he goes on literally make zero sense half the time and i can tell the guest is being polite by not pushing him for clarification on what the hell he's taking about

He knows it inside and out, your not going to stump him, it's almost like he's already thought of how/why everything works... I watched him debate Donald Hoffman on Curt Jaimungal's show and Joscha dominated that discussion, he literally had an explanation for everything Hoffman had for him, if you haven't watched it and this interests you, I suggest you go watch it, I'm not knocking Hoffman, he's brilliant as well, It's extremely fascinating.

I have just listened for an hour or so of the podcast. It is mind blowing. Two very interesting things to me: 1. During the enlightenment, the philosophers imagined the word as ruled by laws similars to the ones of mechanics. Voltaire famously described God as being a Great Clockmaker (at least it is famous in France, where we are taught this in high school). Today, Joscha imagines the world with concepts derived from quantic theories, programing and probabilistic models. As great as a human mind can be, we can only comprehend the world and the universe with concepts we understand. The greatness of Joscha is that he actually acknowledges his own limits. 2. The way Joscha descibes consciousness is very similar to the way it is described by the mystics. For thousands of years, mystics have experienced the emptiness of the material world and a few of them have experienced reality. I would really encourage @lex fridman to organise a discussion with a mystic, how do mystics think the world in the age of AI. That said, I will now browse for Joscha's speeches, maybe a discussion with a mystic has already been recorded.

My god @ 02:30 Joscha nails exactly modern humans fundamental failure that is at the absolute core of all human suffering on earth almost so fluidly and calmly it may pass through many ears as just words within a larger conversation. It is the whole of our existence and if not our “absolute” we will cease to exist. It deserves every resource, will, and intention to bring to bear. It was struck upon by Lex’s signature more love mantra (which Lex i think lives in your heidi part that lives on from your childhood) i think is a large part of your success in podcasting. Joscha is like a philosophical machine gun that seems to have no internal conflicts and no ego. Its like he has a teleprompter being fed from the universe itself. When he was talking about his kids i was blown away by his almost father son and wholly ghost point of view. There are so many people i would like to hear in conversation with joscha as it seems his understanding and awareness seems boundless and rooted in first principals independent of time and place. All i can say is dam.

This was the most objective framework I've ever "perceived" for explaining existence, consciousness, the greater universe, etc. I watched this over a two-day span and spent all of my time in between deliberating the parts of the video I had already watched. During my thoughts, I pondered a few questions that end up getting posed at the end, including the meaning of life. I had come to the exact same description of the meaning of life that Joscha outlined before watching that part. I was elated to hear his response align. I would prefer to attribute it to my being smart but I'm much more inclined to attribute that to Joscha's ability to outline his "aesthetic" in such detail that I was able to ride that wave with ease. I'm really reeling from this one. You must give this episode full attention. Maybe even close your eyes. It's dense and wonderful.

Thank you I found the chapter on Psychedelics. Very interesting perspective and views by Bach and Lex. I feel from my own psychedelics' experiences are much better when the set setting are in some kind of harmonious vibration and connectedness and I approach them with a basic plan ( good prep ) like a day trip to the park or forest, river, or chilling at home can be seriously mind expanding or even deeply lesson like. For me The filters are removed or some link to extra vibrational sensitivities arise. But its also a moderation thing. Like the Zen say "Not too much not too little". A tool, for reaching higher mind states, and connectedness on multiple levels. Mystical experiences. Deeper connections with nature. The playfulness of an empty child like mind full of potential . Yes my migraines are much more less frequent. A good trip takes practice. Lying on my back and looking up at the sky and clouds can be out of this world. Among many others. Psychedelics have shown me there is much more to reality than meets the eye. And that yes the kingdom of heaven is within us all. Its funny I'm often more likely to do some meditation on or after taking psychedelics. Definitely helped make my life to be a much more richer and meaningful experience, full of wonderful synchronicity. Thanks
