    I remember the first time I watched this video was before my first game my sophomore year of high school. I hit my first home run in my first at bat and went from a bench player platooning RF to the clean up hitter. To this day I still refer to this video when I hit a slump. Jose Bautista has been my hero ever since and I credit him with helping me launch my career. I currently play in college and while I've given up my dreams of getting drafted I hope to finish my career on a high note.

    All we have is our dreams. Most people are aren't good at anything and they have to spend the majority of their lives working 5 days a week doing something they dont like doing. Fight for your dreams. It will be the best feeling in the world when you achieve them. Better than money, sex, best feeling in the world. No one can take it away from you.

    That season is one of the greatest seasons in modern baseball. .302 AVG .447! OBP with 132! Walks. 43 homers. He had a 182 OPS+! Not only that, he had gold glove play at 3rd base!

    It's amazing how many people I know have assumed he takes steroids because his homerun numbers went way up. No, in fact this guy is a true inspiration of how you can accomplish something great like that with a good work ethic and true determination.

    I was watching an interview with Anthopoulos earlier, and he mentioned something that no one here has pointed out...even before 2010 Jose was hitting hard liners to every part of the field, and he already had natural power. All he did was change his mechanics at the plate, which helped him combine the two, with consistency.

    I've been a Blue Jays fan since 1999 & I've never seen a player w/ the pop that Jose had...He was the one of the first superstars the Jays had during the early 2000's ...Roy Halladay was a beast no question ...but Jose was the one that helped put the Blue jays back on the map

    I'm a big pirates fan and I loved bautista when he played here. He was a solid defender and the hitting wasnt quite there, but he worked very hard. He was very strong back in pittsburgh and he doesnt look much different now that hes hitting 40-50 hr a yr. No doubt hes a natural player

    I played high-level baseball for 5 years between 13-17 and i've always used the same stance more or less with a bit of a tweek here or there. When I was 16 my teams assistant coach played professionally in the minors for a few years before injuring himself and he tweeked my mechanics and timing on the swing and i went from a 1-2 guy to a middle of the order because i was hitting deep liners to the gap with authority. Proper mechanics and timing while hitting makes a huge difference.

    he's NOT on steroids. hasn't gained significant weight or muscle mass, and, more importantly, his head size hasn't increased. there's a thing called mechanics that you can change, which he has for the better, and you can see the results. in baseball, even the smallest of changes can cause drastic results.

  • @vettevet2002

    forgive my novice eye, but it seems to me his bat is in the zone of the ball a LOT longer now, maybe 2X to 3X longer; really like the way both his feet swivel, putting all of both his hips into his new swing;

  • @insaini87
    @insaini8711 жыл бұрын

    Anybody who says steroids made him into a homerun leader, doesnt have enougjh focus to notice that he dramitically changed his swing. His swing his so long now thats how he gets all the power (longer swing =increased torque) but it takes a lot of other talent and skill to square it up not an inch to high or low and not a tenth of a millisecond too soon or late.

    So annoying when people that think they know baseball and what it takes to succeed, try and taint one of the cleanest,hardest working stars the game has right now !....". Oh that guy has never had 30 HRs before..... Must be a roid head "... Give me a break ! They act like, way before steroids were ever used, that a baseball player never hit 50 Home runs...!?!? Sorry, but there really is CLEAN superstars that play the game, and Joey Batts is one of them.

    slow and early actually does work. I use 2 start my load ahead of time and found it very effective. But, coaches saw me doing it so often that they tried to "change what wasn't broken" and make me start later, and because of that my batting average went down a lot at the time.

    Regarding possible PED use, MLB is more strict than ever, and I'm sure amidst Bautista's breakout season in 2010, he was tested numerous times. Because back in the day, a guy that went from 18-22 home runs a reason to 40 or 50+, was usually juicing. That being said, I know Jose wasn't juicing, there is no way he'd get away with it in today's MLB. Scouts, trainers, coaches, a lot of people Jose met prior to his trade to Toronto, all praised his potential for power. It was Dwayne Murphy who helped Jose harness that power, make some slight adjustments, and he went on a tear. Now, look at the subsequent seasons, Jose hit 43 home runs in 2011, but the following 7 seasons averaged only 26 a season, why is that? Well that is a combination of 2 things, the first being age. Jose didn't have those breakout seasons until he was 29-30, so the numbers were bound to drop little by little from 30-35 and onward. Then you have the type of hitter Jose is, a lot of power, and a lot of strikeouts. When guys become a bigger threat at the plate, pitchers study them more closely to figure them out. In 2010-2011, pitchers made more mistakes against him, because prior to those seasons he wasn't as big a threat. When you become a notorious power hitter, pitchers can expose your weak zones and start to pitch around you more, figuring you out. But man, if Jose wasn't fun to watch those few seasons.

    Baseball is a game all about minor adjustments. The slightest adjustments make huge differences at the major league level. Jose Bautista and Chris Davis are in the same boat. They both made a small adjustment and it did wonders for both. If you look, Chris Davis is more upright, therefore giving him more leverage and simplified his swing as a whole to be more consistent. Just because he's gained muscle doesn't mean he's on roids. He was a monster just waiting to come out.

  • @BOBAbaseball
    @BOBAbaseball9 жыл бұрын

    For those of you saying he took steroids: He looks the same as he did before. Josh Donaldson weighs more than he does and hasn't hit over 40 home runs. Bautista gained confidence with his approach to hitting the baseball. I small change to a swing can change a slap hitter or singles hitter to a gap or home run hitter. It's not easy to hit a round ball with a round bat. It takes years of practice with quality swings to achieve this. It's youtube. It's for entertainment purposes.

    Back leg should control front leg. Isobaseball teaches the mechanics of the Perfect Swing. Baustista learned to have a slow front side. This improved his timing. He talked about hands. Everyone, please understand that teaching the science of the perfect swing is very difficult, but if you find the right resources, tools and coach - it can be done. I am telling you that Isobaseball is going to change the way the perfect swing is being taught.

    He definitely isn't on steriods...doesn't have a shorter neck ("bigger head") and has practically the same body mass and muscular strength as before. A friend of mine who does MMA said that Jose probably did testosterone replacement therapy, which is likely how Braun got the positive test. I hope Jose didn't do that, but clearly he is a naturally gifted hitter, regardless. Anyone who says he's on steriods doesn't know shit.

    Taking steroids would decrease your muscle reaction time, thereby allowing you to wait longer before deciding to swing. It gives you roughly 7-10% more time to see the pitch, though it doesn't directly stop you from holding up. Bautista's clean.

    Just wanted to put this into perspective. Jose Bautista was still hitting 25 bombs a season when he came to the jays in 08. As well, if you look at him he has not magically become a massive monster like some steroid users in the past. Now take a look at Chris Davis. I applaud him on his massive year, but, firstly, you don't go from a 20 home run guy to a player who in mid July on pace to come close to the MLB record for homeruns, and 2, take a look at his rookie card and then a recent one.
