Passive aggressiveness is when someone makes snarky comments in an attempt to annoy you without making it outright mean enough for you to legit get angry at it. It's so that they can have plausible deniability if you clap back. Jordan is just directly hostile but he will say these things in the most calm and soft spoken manner that you don't know how to react lmao

    Jordan Schlansky: Will never flat-out say Yes or No, will never confirm nor deny, will always try to inject something about Italy into a story or anecdote, will never use a simple word if a more vague word is available. A couple of simple rules, but creates such an interesting and hilarious foil to Conan.

    I think this is the Genius of Conan. Everyone is quirky in their own way, but that doesn’t mean they can be entertaining on their own. Conan is able to pinpoint what makes people funny and he knows how to bring that out of them.

    And it's also not quite right--see the Collins English-Italian dictionary entry for the translation of English "barista" to Italian. _Le bariste_ are two or more exclusively *female* baristas. _I baristi_ are two or more baristas, at least one of which is male. _I baristi_ is also the form you'd use if you aren't trying to convey anything about the genders of the seven baristas who conducted the "investigation".

    I think it's cos dynamic makes them both the straight man and comic throughout the conversation. Conan naturally being comedic and Jordan being so deadpan that it veers into comedy which then makes Conan act as the straight man too with his 'annoyance' with the answers he receives.

    Given the fact that they are part of his skits, it behooves him to give them as much free reign as possible to create entertaining situations. So, in a way they are collaborators, they are the "straight man" of a comedic trope. Hopefully he compensated them for it.

    What's crazy was the part about Conan's skits as Jordan's core memories. I always thought Jordan was somehow briefed that Conan may enter at any time, but here he is saying it was part of his life; that it was truly RANDOM. The fact that Jordan remembers them so well really speaks of how important they are to him.

    it's really great to hear just some of the laughter of the crew in the background, but no sona cackling at everything, matt with his interjections. i think conan excels more with more space like this. andy would always give him all of the space that he needed. sona and matt have their qualities but i don't want to hear from them every time i tune in, its too much.
