Jordan Peterson's First Protest At The University of Toronto

Professor Jordan Peterson set social justice activists on fire when he started publishing his series on the dangers of political correctness. After a protest against him last week, he held his own counter-protest today.

And if you say: "I won't spend money for him", then stop questioning. Coz you're not willing to find the answer for it. He helped millions of lives at this point. And he deserves every bit of it. It's normal for people to disagree with anything, but what's extraordinary is millions of people agreeing with him even if they just met him online or not. Word is power, and the more factual bases it holds, the more power and influence it contains. Both of those, Jordan Peterson has.

I encourage you to open your mind a little more and stop seeing politics through this useless dichotomised filter of "left" vs "right". These terms are broad to the point of being meaningless, especially given the contradictory stances within both factions, and only contribute to the unhelpful dilution of the political spectrum to being little more than two sports teams.

yoosh Trust me I understand where you’re coming from.I am not a liberal nor conservative.Honestly I’m more of an independent. The thing is I’ve always have an open mind and I always do my own independent research on both sides. But the more I do that the more I see how incredibly immature the left really is. Peterson is trying to speak out against the government controlling speech and all the left is trying to do is shut him down by destroying that speaker. I’ve seen more maturity and levelheadedness towards the right. I do believe George Washington was right about political parties. No matter how good their intentions are all it does is divide the country. I personally think we should just do without them. But honestly it’s the liberals that irritates me more and more with their own immaturity.

  • @shawnellesmith

yoosh I just said we should do without political parties. Left, in politics, the portion of the political spectrum associated in general with egalitarianism and popular or state control of the major institutions of political and economic life. Leftists tend to be hostile to the interests of traditional elites, including the wealthy and members of the aristocracy, and to favour the interests of the working class. They tend to regard social welfare as the most important goal of government. Socialism is the standard leftist ideology in most countries of the world; communism is a more radical leftist ideology. Right, portion of the political spectrum associated with conservative political thought. the term applied to conservatives who supported authority, tradition, and property. In the 20th century a divergent, radical form developed that was associated with fascism. Both terms dates back from the 1790s, when in the French revolutionary parliament the socialist representatives sat to the presiding officer’s left and the conservative representatives sat to the presiding officer’s right. It’s a term both sides stuck with ever since and they both choose to stick with. The problem is I do understand way more than you think. But feel free to enlighten me on how I don’t understand (not trying to sound sarcastic. Sorry if it sounded that way).

@coltglass1270 that gave you “chills”? You do realize that he is lying don’t you? Bill C 16 basically protects trans individuals from discrimination which I should point out to you he actively practices while hiding behind this ridiculous notion that free-speech is somehow under this “assault“ which by the way it is not. I find that Jordan Peterson, while being an obvious crank, does not make any rational or evidence-based arguments. He never proved that Bill C 16 was some kind of an evitable step to regulating speech. Further to the point as he started to become more and more an obvious fascist, you will notice that his dubious claims about some kind of draconian crack down on free-speech never happened. He is arguing in bad faith, he makes claims that needless to say are dubious to the point of comedy, and never and I need to emphasize the word never, does he ever approve his claims with actual documented evidence. What gives me “chills” is that people blindly believe what this crank is saying without any ounce of skepticism.

I hear him perfectly. What I think is frightening is that people think him a spouse in his opinion automatically means his opinion is somehow a fact. I don’t think people who support Jordan Peterson even remotely fact check his “arguments“. He lied about Bill C 16, he is making things up as he goes along, and quite frankly he is being alarmist. Not making a mistake I believe he should be allowed to express his opinion but he should not be allowed to pass off his opinion as some kind of fundamental truth. That is what bothers me so much about him and people who support him: opinions are not truth. And as we have seen in recent years Jordan Peterson is clearly mentally unhinged, highly unprofessional, and is clearly a fascist.

It pisses me off that no one understands what's going on here. The law Peterson was against passed. A father was recently arrested for calling HIS OWN DAUGHTER "she". Canada is now a 2nd world country, along with the rest of the world that believes people don't have the right to their own language and thoughts. Society exists to guarantee tolerance, not respect. Tolerance means I don't kill you for disagreeing with me. Respect is my belief that you have done right by the world. You can not force respect, and any attempt to do so only breeds resentment. America is the last bastion of free speech in the world, and it's faltering. New York has laws to force pronoun use at the workplace. There are probably others. Fight like Peterson used to. Attack ignorance and complacency wherever they lie, because it isn't much longer until we all are lined up against the wall.

As a person of LGBTQ+ community, and as someone who is what they call "gender non-binary" i just don't understand the need for these confusing pronouns. Since the beginning of language "He" and "she" have been used to refer to a person's biological "sex" i.e. what their genes show. for trans ppl it is simply the sex they change into. gender on the other hand is a social construct. you can take on whatever the gender role you want and that doesn't change your biological "sex", which is what the pronouns refer to. the whole concept of "they" as a pronoun is so stupid. IMO the misunderstanding goes back to the fact that trans ppl are called "transgender" when the more appropriate term for that is "transSEX". because of this misnomer, now everyone is confused about gender and sex and they think that pronouns have to change according to the gender they chose (which is more of a personality thing). 👏🏻PRONOUNS REFER TO SEX AND ULTRA MODERN GENDER NON BINARY ACTIVISTS NEED TO CALM DOWN👏🏻

Suddenly I saw this guy standing up and saying the truth. I proceeded to find his KZread channel that was full of classroom lectures. Over the next year I went from Bernie Bro lost guy to a red pilled guy who decided to get married, have children, buy a house and get my shit together. I could never explain to Jordan what a monumental influence he was on my mid 20s and how much of a father figure he represented to me. I do have a father and he's a great dad. One of the nicest guys you'll meet. Always there for us but one thing I missed from him growing up was the dark side. He rarely got on me, he rarely judged me and he was almost always supportive. I know that sounds great to a lot of you, especially if you had hard dads, but a growing up you really need a good balance of both hard lessons and encouragement. I guess I don't think I ever got that from my old man and here I was in my mid 20s and this guy JP was telling me to shape up and quit complaining and make my own part of the world a better place when I had spent quite a few years in college and after complaining and shitting on the west. I had no clue. Thanks JBP.

how badass is it that Peterson, an academic, was brave enough to put himself in this position. to expend this energy. shout over mobs. go against large institutions (his employer, the media, the government). Most academics simply are not like this. This is not the job description in any remote sense. he clearly felt a profound sense of duty to use his discoveries and speech to warn everyone of things they couldn’t see. just amazing.

@Jonathan Edward "The decision to bring him to Russia was made in extreme desperation, when we couldn't find any better option," his daughter said, referencing "several" failed treatment attempts in North American hospitals, where doctors tried to slowly taper Peterson off the medication. The nature of the therapy that Peterson has been receiving in Moscow isn't clear. And his daughter declined to provide more details when contacted by CBC News. He tried, it didnt work. Why do you think he is a fraud? Why do you mock someone going through a such a tough time, when he CLEARLY wants people to get better and thrive in life, instead of living in missery? Is it because you think he hates transgender people? He had many interviews where he said he doesnt, he had trans people come out on live television in an interview with him saying they agree with him that C-16 is bad. To many he is the dad they never had, to some he simply teaches them what their parents failed to.

  • @ivanjaksic2892

    @ivanjaksic2892

    3 жыл бұрын

@Jonathan Edward he doesnt only base his arguments around christianity, and he doesnt use the misogynous parts of it to prove a point that women are somehow less than men (even though men and women are different), only the ones that have worth in real life. How did he misrepresent C-16? How is his EQ non existent? He simply does not think that the whole of history was a subjugation of women (altho they didnt have an upper hand like men did, but to call every man who ever lived an oppressor is too much) and his main focus is on the part of the radical leftist argument that somehow all white men are inherently bad because women and minorities were oppressed in the past. By that logic every religious, ethnic or racial group should be called an oppressor. He was a productive psychologist because his advice actually helped people realise they should go out and achieve what they want by themselves, its their responsibility. Whats to bad about having a father figure that tells you you shouldnt blame the world for your problem, even though it is a huge factor, and that you should take responsibility for your actions?

Sadly a suit & tie is designed to engender trust that our socioeconomic system simply doesn't inherently engender e.g. a suit helps mitigate the blow-back of getting away with gaining & maintaining a differential advantage over others, it is symbolic of an artificial sense of trust worthiness. Remember it isn't about the container(Peterson & his suit & tie) it is about the content(his ideas) let us not be superficial and please make an attempt to move away from the unnecessary consumption of resources that serve no utility, vanity should not TRUMP(forgive the pun) survival.

"It's the first time I've seen in a legislative history, when people are attempting to MAKE US *SPEAK* their language!" Man, this man truly holds incredible power to make people focus on what he is saying. That "Speak" was executed absolutely flawlessly. If the people opposing him were to put his beliefs aside and just be willing to learn from him how to articulate their opinions properly, the debate could be over and the solution to the problem figured out in no time.

The ability to stand among a bunch of people hating on you, defending free speech, without safety and security (behind which politicians and people hide), openly standing tall is the kinda badassery I wanna be capable of.

this comment made me very sad. In the future how will people think of our culture with these cowards yelling at a speech, drowning out an opposing view, using the shield of victimisation while they are destroying other people’s gatherings.
