2017/05/17: Senate hearing on Bill C16

Update: on May 18, C16 sailed through the Canadian Senate with no amendments.
I served as a witness at the Canadian Senate yesterday, regarding Bill C16, which adds the ill-defined categories of gender expression and gender identity to the list of prohibited grounds of discrimination. The Federal government, in a website which has since been taken down, stated clearly that this legislation would be interpreted in keeping with the policies of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, which I regard as one of the most dangerous institutions in Canada, in relationship to all rights other than those of "equality," including freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of association. I was partnered with lawyer Jared Brown, whose courageous and detailed analysis of Bill C16 can be found here: litigationguy.wordpress.com/2...
which amends the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code

Noight Bru Probably because this could have repercussions that go beyond the borders of Canada. It's not just (some in) Canada fighting this neo-Marxist soft coup of western civilization, it's ALL of western civilization. The passing of this dangerous law will embolden them to try it elsewhere, including the US. At least, that's why I tuned in. I'm afraid that Peterson will be deliberately targeted by this law. He has stated he won't capitulate. They are going to ensnare him to try and defeat him. I think he should leave Canada as soon as he can. He's not safe there in any capacity. But he's a fighter, so I'm sure he won't. Regardless, I will support him.

The Governor General is also not an elected official, they are appointed by the Queen of England at the advisement of the Prime Minister. So basically the PM can select people that their party wants to keep in their pocket to help ensure laws they want are created. This will effect Canada's economy greatly. Because major corporations and other big businesses will pull out of Canada, rather then risk paying millions of dollars in settlements. Because this law puts the court in the victims favor, even if they're not a victim. If you have a small business that employs 100 to 1000 people, or a big business that employs 10,000 to 100,000 people. All it takes is one of those people to slip up and say something they thought was a joke, that someone will say they were offended by, in order to make a quick lawsuit case to be awarded a settlement. When that starts happening, and people now use this law as a way to sue businesses in order to get rich quick. That's it, Canada's currency is done. No business is going to stay there, at least no international business is going to stay there. They'll move abroad, rather then pay settlements constantly. People will say, well, we just wont hire them, problem is, that is discrimination, so you have to take'em. This law will do more harm then good, especially on Canada's economy. I guess the saying is true *The road to hell is paved with good intentions.*

@@Ninjacobe Thanks for posting - I read the amendment. What is it gender expression? Something new is added to the law without definition - age, sex, ethinc group, religion - all that is clear. And bias could be obviously based on misgendering if a court chooses such interpretation. To me it is obvious that the lacking definition will mean that the court will have to refer to some institutions or bodies and it will be those that are spreading this postmodernist ideology which is not based on scientific grounds (as well expressed by Peterson). The amendment is suspicious not by what it says but by what is missing. I think that those who carefully listened to this hearing could see that an ideology is pushed through the back door so that everybody will have to conform to it.

I get you. Being Danish comes with its own problems in the "global community", lol. A shocking number of Americans I've talked to throughout my life (I swear, it was almost always an American) haven't even known that Denmark was a country. They've thought it was a town in either Sweden, Norway, Netherlands or even England. At least North and South Korea are known and recognized as countries xP. Fortunately this hasn't really happened since Bernie Sanders used Denmark as an example of socialism being a good thing, making it more commonly known that we're a country (we're not a socialist country, btw. If we were, the money to pay for all the "free" aka tax-paid programs and services couldn't exist, cause we wouldn't have the incomes needed to pay said high taxes). Also, they think we speak Dutch... Dutch people speak Dutch. Danish people speak Danish. You'd think this would be simple, but nooooo. OR they say that Denmark is just wannabe-Sweden, which is bizarre considering Sweden along with the rest of Scandinavia all used to be the kingdom of Denmark. We're hardly a newborn baby country over here :( Well, maybe the baby part, cause we're teeny tiny if Greenland isn't included... This is all part of the liberal elite's PROPAGANDA. This is just another small step to take away our rights and freedoms. The slope only goes one way with Socialistic governments.... Dr Peterson is a genius. Not only a genius but then he is brave enough to go against the tyrannical powers. Risking his financial security and neck for WE THE PEOPLE! We need more people like Dr Peterson in places of powers. If he was only born here in the USA he would be our next President. I urge all Canadians to vote for Dr Peterson the next election. Even though I guarantee he would not want the power or the job. I feel like if enough of you voted for him he would be compelled to stand up for you all. Do you guys have a section like we do in the US where you can right in an "other"? I have herd that Mickey Mouse got more votes than both Bill Clinton and George Bush senior that election. At least they are having a tribunal and inviting qualified people to give their views. Being a politician doesn't have any requirements to be qualified at the job, just a requirement to be popular enough to get elected. A smart politician will realise that they most likely don't know as much about a particular topic than experts in the field and will seek out their advice. A stupid politician will make quick knee-jerk decisions based on nothing but their own, most likely ignorant, views.

Watch his interviews with Dave Rubin and Joe Rogan, he shakes a bit there as well. I think it is some general nervousness because of the scale on which he is speaking, and/or possibly adrenaline. He goes for the water a lot as well in those interviews and here. No matter what, he still get his points across eloquently, and I like that he fired back a bit here too, more so than Gad Saad chose to do. Some of the questions in both hearings were reprehensible and disingenuous, like saying they aren't against genocide and discrimination because they don't want compelled speech at threat of prosecution. Apparently they aren't familiar with fallacious arguments. Canadian residents should try to introduce a bill reducing senate pay to $0 and just include anti-genocide and anti-discrimination measures in them, apparently that is all that is required to be passed with no nuanced look.

The way to combat this is in four parts. First, lend support to Dr. Peterson through his Patreon page to help insulate him from the U of T possibly firing him. Second, vote for any political party that will repeal the leguslation if elected. Third, lend financial support to anyone who gets caught up with the legislation and is preprared to constitutionally challenge this law. Fourth, push for university reform - put pressure to cleave the universities in two, let the hard sciences, engineering, and mathematics form their own institutions and get separate funding. This will crystallize out the ideologues and the practical utility of STEM will insure that the humanities must make hard choices between their disciplines and the funding of poor scholarship departments.

Peterson clearly found a problem he couldn't understand, sought to understand it, and now is terrified by the prospect of this ridiculous legislation. It's easy to dismiss someone who uses big words like 'Marxist ideologue' as perhaps crazy or someone with an agenda, but that is clearly not the case. M Czerna yes..I get what u mean...he is so patient to. He is being forced to argue as intellectually as he can (and this guy is clearly smart) what 99% of us see as common sense...he isn't hateful..he isn't unwilling to treat any one individual in any different way than anything else....if this situation never became blown up....and he happened to have a trans student...and he had them in his class multiple times and engaged in dialogue, NOT about gender, about whatever Peterson lectures, he wouldn't refuse to possibly show the "respect" they expect him to bow down too.. I hope that translates into how I mean it

It boils down with no one willing to say this...I get it. I get your intentions maybe good. I get where your coming from but this is a parody....to say that without saying what a parody it is...its not common human nature. I am triggered by how they twist Jordan's Petersons intentions...And his fans cause what is commonly only criticism of Jordan. They think he has a ravage large group of fans who are rightly triggered by the stupidity of the idea people debate this man about nonsense...he has tried so hard to help us spread this common sense we all feel...who could hate on this guy...what is a valid critisicm of Jordan Peterson...his fans, that's all...we don't deserve this hero we got and I wish we could collectively respectfully show our support by shutting the fuck up..ill take my own advice now. I hope someone gets what I mean And willing to change approach...these comment sections are used against Jordans words

The nice guy who spoke about it so simply. If I tell u I don't want to be called that. And u refuse.. That's not nice.....well the intentions aren't pure, why is that not said..he is right in a sense, but a persons intent in telling a person what they like to be called is a thing to realize...the detractors aren't realizing there intentions are good, but the actual people who want to be called her are able to show there intentions are not wrapped up in this political ideology crap. A individuals intent to say I demand you don't call me her, can not be automatically assumed in good faith...people are thinking they are helping, by assuming any one individual will act in good faith in their insistences

Seeks justice and truth and psychologically rehabilitates those in need. This man is a marvel and will be praised for his unbiased approach towards treating the human condition, hundreds of years from now. Thank you Jordan.💜💙💘🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

@@downeybill They passed the bill because they were too weak to handle pressure from the supposed "victims". They don't want to be seen as the "bad guys", so instead, Dr Peterson is taking the responsibility to discuss this and shoulder the heavy weight that the government should have lifted but failed to be responsible and acted based on one of three reasons: 1. fear of being seen as transphobes 2. lust for victory over Peterson 3. they wanted the 'pat-on-the-back' feeling from the trolls, aka "victims"

And responsible government is a model of government, which Canada uses, is Canadians choosing a party and the party chooses the Prime Minister; we choose our Prime Minister through representative democracy. Judges and Senate members are no different. Democracy as you see it is tyrannical. You could argue for the separation of powers model, which would realistically separate the executive government from the House of Commons; but this is only done if we separate our ties with the Queen, whom still technically leads Canada through the Governor General. What you're essentially saying is let's abolish the senate, separate our ties from the commonwealth and become more like France (because America is a Republic, and representation still isn't direct, even if they do vote for their President). Bad idea. Democracies fail where Republics succeed.
