Good day The Good ride. I want to express my respect from Russians local (Siberian) riders to you, for all the work that you have done for riders. All your materials are very useful and helpful when choosing the right equipment. All purchased equipment was guided by your materials and reviews, and everything we bought for snowboarding met our expectations. Keep going. Thank you so much!

Such a clear and on point review! Kudos bro. I was thinking of buying the Frontier, and your review convinced me to try it out soon! I have a pretty hardcore full camber Nitro board and a full feckin’ banana rocker Burton. Love both of them for different slope conditions. The Nitro is so fast and secured, but any mistake is punished (and damn hard too, I must add). And I think I’ve grown over the rocker board. It is so easy to ride, certainly when taking things easy and playful. But it’s just too gloopy washy on anything harder than fresh pow. I always thought a mix of both my boards would be the perfect fit for me. I’m so stoked to try it out.

Love your review videos! I'm 6' ft and 165 lbs and have been riding a 158w Capita Mercury. It's been great but I kind of want a more advanced board. Really considering the Jones Frontier now. Would it be an upgrade or a parallel move? I ride in CO but also taking a trip to Japan this season. Thanks!

Thanks! The Frontier is a good bit more directional/has better float, is stiffer, has more camber/carves harder and more grip. I wouldn't say it's more advanced as both boards are good for advanced riders. Thanks! Night and day difference. The Frontier is not a beginner/intermediate board and has been incorrectly marketed that way. People say that but it's got a stiff flex, the same camber profile as the Flagship and just comes in a non-tapered package. It is forgiving though and most Jones boards are. That is what gives them such a wide appeal. So if you are considering both go Frontier if it fits your specs. If you want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

Love the detailed reviews! What do you think would be a better complement to the jones mind expander for a two-board quiver, the frontier or the mountain twin? The ME would be the powder board. While it carves well, it’s a little loose feeling when flat-basing it at speed. The second board would be more of a daily for groomers and carving. Also moguls and easier tree runs, so maneuverability and quick turns are important. Nothing crazy steep, no park and only occasional brief switch riding. Riding out west. I think I’d like either, but wondering which you thought would be a better pairing. Thanks!

Need some help not sure what to do. I bought the 2021 version of stratos 159. I do a lot of craving and free riding. Don’t do jumps. Just little pops on the sides of the runs. And don’t ride switch unless I’m needed to. But I’m 200 pounds now and 6’1. Boot size is a 12. Feel like I have a lot of overhand with the 159. Not sure if I want the Frontier or the stratos. I wear Burton Ruler size 14. I consider myself intermediate rider. I love riding and carving on groomers and in pow with occasional jumps on the sides and in park. Which board would suit me better? Aviator has a lot more camber, less early rise and a lot more pop. More spoon tech so you feel it a bit more on harder snow. It's a little less directional these days vs. the frontier as well. I like the frontier a little better for pow.

Very hard to help based on the limited info given. Really not sure if either work for you. I'd say Mtn Twin is better for intermediates but hit me up here if you want to do this properly. I need to know a lot more about you to actually help. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

I'd probably go 167w. That's a good fit for you. 164w could work too if you want more control and an easier turner at the expense of speed and float. If you want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

yes. thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/ride-berzerker-2012-2024-snowboard-review here is my take. I prefer the Jones Frontier better but it's all about personal preference. If you want a super turny board then the Berzerker might work but it can feel hooky if you try to straight.

@thegoodridesnow I base it off who designed the berzerker and his riding preference, ive seen it mentioned a lot of how the bezerker is great for "turning" to be honest

Would love to know how the Frontier compares directly against the Mind Expander

  • @thegoodridesnow

    @thegoodridesnow

Two pretty different boards. Mind Expander has a lot of taper vs. none with the Frontier. Mind Expander has a lot more spoon in the nose, much more overall nose and much more taper. It rides very set back compared to the frontier and is very turny/surfy. The Frontier is better switch, rides more centered and has only a slightly softer flex.

@thegoodridesnow many thanks. Not bought a new board for quite a few years, so the new tapered, volume shifted, hybrid profiles etc are all new and confusing. Need to try and ride some to compare to my OLD k2 Raygun. Love you sensible, no bullshit or unnecessary hype reviews - keep up the brilliant work 👍👏👏👏

How does the frontier compares to the burton hometown?

  • @thegoodridesnow

It helps if you have specific questions because there are a lot of differences. Jones Frontier: Faster base, much better grip, and much smoother turning experience in soft snow to powder. Much more forgiving. Burton HTH: Much more camber so better pop out of a turn in good conditions. More Ollie power as well. More set back on board and 12mm of taper so floats much better in pow if you set it all the way back.

@@thegoodridesnow thank you so much. I usually ride the whole mountain, but never just straight down - I hit side hits (although I’m not too good at it), I like riding the trees, and enjoy the small jumps of the park. I wonder what would be a great fit for my style.

I see you struggling to not buy every board 😂. Yeah, they are all candy to my eyes, especially rare boards and exoerimental sht, like the Yonex Irodori. I am a multi quiver guy too, and I highly recommend it to the people who live in the mountain. Having several specific boards, especially if you get lots of pow, is always nice. And if you are a lazy bstard like me, all the boards with bindings already mounted. Yeah, lots of money but there's nothing better than throw all of them in the van and choose one on the spot depending on your mood or the conditions. The price: surviving with ramen and cookies some months lol, but this is the life.

Ha! No...trying to knock out some of our favorites first. I would prefer the Frontier over the Mtn Twin and especially Stratos. If they fixed the Stratos dampness I would be begging for it though. That is it's Achilles heel for me.
