    I grabbed the 156 a few seasons ago and love it! I’m about 185 6”0 and my boot size is 11.5. Watching this video makes me kinda wish I went 153. I usually ride a 159-162 and was happy to downsize but also was scared to go too small.

    Finally, you started bending boards and talking about flex correctly! Because before that it sounded like nonsense. You took the board in the middle, pressed it and said how hard it was between the inserts)) In any case, it was good, because you pressed it and everyone saw what they needed.

  • @thegoodridesnow

    Yeah, I never cared too much about how a board flexes in studio vs. talking about how it rides on snow. I should have, though, and will do in the future. One thing, though, @KostyaSanSnowboarding. Please keep it constructive but friendly if you plan to comment here again.

    I recommend to test the Burton Fish Mine77 in 156. It has the same shape like the 2006 Fish, with a decent camber. I love it with my 9 boots on grommers and in pow. Give it a try or test it. I think you will love it!

    I tested this tent on decent rain ( >3mm rain - 3 to 5 hours ) The top ventilation when its fully open, it works great ! However, the little stick that keeps the ventilation open will touch your inner tent mesh and will veerrryyyy slowly creates condensation on your tent top mesh - Suggested to close your top vent during heavy rain condition. The awning when its fully open during heavy rain. Sideways wind will blow some rain inside your inner tent. Suggesting to close down your awning and not fully open. A partial closure with awning facing down 45 degree works well but if you open your awning 90 degree, chances are some rain will get inside. BA didnt send enough stakes initially. Suggested bring extra stakes and also upgrade your BA stakes as they seemed inferior.

    It really depends on how you ride and your specs. Two very different rides@ANETOKILLE. The only thing they have in common is the swallowtail design. The Storm Chaser rides a little shorter/wider, has a lot less taper (1.1cm less), rides a little less setback. and carves more on the back foot. The Spoon nose has a smoother turn in pow. The Dart rides a little longer. I would ride the 156 Dart and the 152 Storm Chaser as daily drivers for groomers and pow. I'd only size up if it was more for pow and clean groomers only. It has more camber, and drives really hard off the front foot on groomers. It's got a much more tapered/Nose heavy feel in comparison and it doesn't ride well unless you ride that very posi.

    Burton Flying V was always my least favorite camber profile that they made. I miss their S Camber boards for powder, but they discontinued those in favor of Directional Camber instead which is pretty different. I still have my 2013 Burton Barracuda with the S Camber in a board closet in my house, but I admittedly don’t take it out very often because I have so many other boards with newer tech that I prefer to ride on a powder day

    If you have the new 2021 with rubber in the heal instead of foam it's a big difference. Much more shock absorbent. A little less response but close enough for me not to need more. Rubbish product. I rode them for 70 days. The toe box disintegrated starting at day 35-40. By day 60 the toe seams were gone. They're not engineered to withstand forces applied to the toe clips. The genesis stepon were just as disappointing - held together by little plastic clips that break, gas pedals that fall off, and hammocks that snap off. I know this is the hardware not the rider because I bought non step on photons and used last season for 60-70 days and surprise-surprise, the toe boxes haven't fallen apart. Junk, but if you like getting a few weeks only, or you're super casual and skid your turns and ride like a nanna these might be OK. Just look at how the hammock is attached - it's two little plastic pegs (that snap) and a pop rivet sent through plastic. If you don't see that is rubbish... Well. Think again when it snaps off and you only have s one season guarantee on that highback. The positives definitely do not out weigh the compromises... And I say this taking my non step on photons from last season and Union atlases to europe for their second full season. The step ons were unrideable failing $#@& by day 60. (rear) gas pedals lost, highbacks snapped off, rear toe clips failing on the first heelside. If you get this system ffs don't get photons, and def not genesis. Loved them for the first 2-3 weeks, until bits started falling off, and then boots started failing.

  • @thegoodridesnow
    @thegoodridesnow4 күн бұрын

    Unfortunately I didn't try the Mystery HTH so it's hard to say unless I actually ride it. I will say that these ultra-light high end boards aren't for everyone. Sometimes you pay more to get less so make sure you are a lighter rider and you see lots of good conditions. Or you are willing to compromise stability in uneven snow for pop. Otherwise you might like the regular models better.

    James, you might disagree but to get more float you should've been on the 153 or 155. Your specs are too big for the 150. No wonder it struggled to float. Not fair to compare it to bigger directional boards with set back.

  • @thegoodridesnow
    @thegoodridesnow5 күн бұрын

    I think you missed my point and I didn't compare it to bigger directional boards. All boards compared had the same or less surface area which is massively more important than length. The 155 pyl uninc is almost the same, but even the 153 Standard Uninc and Standard, which are directional twins with less surface area, have better directional float when using the set-back inserts. So it's not sizing it's just about explaining that this has no real directional float compared to other YES boards readers might be considering. If you watch the whole Pow chapter, you will see I said it's good for a twin but not for people who want to set it back. Lastly, my specs work with the 150 and 153 but not the 155 for a size 9 boot. Just too hard for me to turn. The 150 worked very well on groomers. The 153 would as well but they only had a 150. That's why I compared similar surface area boards to the 150.

    I'd say you are between the 156 and 160. The 160 is a good fit for your weight but the 156 for your boot size. If you want control the 156 would be the choice. If you want more float and speed the 160 would be the call. Only go 164 if you only plan to ride it in super deep pow.

    I dont recommend sunglasses. Use actual ski goggles. You can get freeze.

    I can only wear ski goggles in super-freezing cold conditions, but in normal weather (98% of the days I ride), I can't. They fog up. It's best to have my Goggles in their goggle sock in my backpack. They never freeze or fog up there.

    Phenomenal review lads. Smith are legendary. Have the embark, deckboss, lowdown, 4d mag etc and I find myself continuously reaching for them over my vast eyewear quiver 😂 as nothing IMO compares or performs as consistently well. Only drawback here in New Zealand is price. You certainly get the quality if you have the dollars.

    I bought this board in 163 in the inaugural year of its release for the 20/21 season and having had hundreds of hours with this particular board underfoot, I can tell you that it’s the most intense and aggressive freeride board on the market. Maybe only the Capita Black Snowboard of Death truly competes with it, but this board is even better in my personal opinion. I haven’t bought the redesigned version yet, but I’m planning to grab the 24/25 164W once preorders open up because I think I’d appreciate another half centimeter or so of width as well. I think the thing that most surprised me with this particular board has been the powder performance. I didn’t buy this board for powder days, I have other boards in my quiver for that, but I’ve taken it out in powder several times anyways because I like this board so much and wow, just wow, this board absolutely rocks the whole mountain in every known condition possible! The only thing I wouldn’t personally do with this board is hit rails in the park, it’s not a jibbing board whatsoever, but besides that, it really can do it all and the board sticks landings on cliff drops like nothing else out there 😁

    I’m glad I waited to buy one of these until the 2025 preorders opened up. I saw a video with Arthur saying they were working on wide versions and with my size 12’s I really felt like waiting was the right call 😁

    I think it’s weird that Burton only made the Territory Manager for 2022/23 and then immediately discontinued it even though so many riders gave it favorable reviews 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Burton does that a lot.

    @@thegoodridesnow interesting, I’ve only noticed them discontinuing the boards that still had enough stock for spring sales in the past. I thought this board sold out prior to March 2023

    They are much further ahead than that design/sales wise. Stores are taking orders from Brands almost a year ahead and Brands are planning their line 2+ years ahead. It was already long gone by spring 2023.
