The cool thing is that Coach is in a position now where he doesn't have to be concerned with having WWE as a contingency plan if shit goes downhill. He's got such a wide ranging name now from Pro Wrestling to MMA and Sports Analyst that he'll be able to find a job. Which in turn means he isn't afraid to open up about stuff that happened in the business like others would.

The thumbnail, "HIS LIFE IS ALL PRO WRESTLING"... I know it's meant to read "his life is ALL pro wrestling", but... In my early 20s, I trained at All Pro Wrestling in Hayward, CA, run by Roland Alexander. Roland & APW had been featured in Beyond the Mat w/ Roland taking Mike Modest & Tony Jones to WWF for dark match tryouts (Beyond the Mat is how I found APW, of course). One day, I was in Roland's office w/ then-trainer, a young Bryan Danielson, and saw a framed article hanging on the wall on the documentary w/ an enlarged quote from Vince; asked his thoughts on the doc, Vince said "I can't believe someone put me in the same movie as that fat carny", referring to Roland. I asked Bryan, "Why would Roland frame that?" Bryan said he'd asked Roland the same question and Roland's response was "that shows Vince McMahon knows who I am". This past Sunday, 11/5, marked 10yrs. since Roland's passing. I know he'd smile, as I did, reading the thumbnail as "[Vince's] life is All Pro Wrestling." Just wanted to share...

@@Birdman669 Dude he literally worked under his daddy for 20 years and then bought the company from him in the 1980s. But even guys who arguably were screwed by Vince like RVD, Maven and Richards don’t hate him at all. I understand Coachman’s frustrations but I don’t think McMahon meant it to be personal. Plus I think the fact Coach wasn’t a wrestler has something to do with it. Non-wrestlers involved in WWE don’t generally seem to connect as well as guys who were wrestlers (Renee Paquette, Justin Roberts). Like it doesn’t surprise me that a guy like Kurt Angle admires Vince’s commitment to the business.

I worked in a company for 8 years so I considered myself a loyal company man. In year 7, my boss asked me to head over to Sierra Leonne for business. That was when the country was having a devasting outbreak of ebola. I said fucked that I didn't want to go. Because I said no, 4 other staff that were my juniors also said no. My boss was outraged and said if I didn't want to go, hand in my resignation letter. I came back an hour later with the letter ready. I dont think he expected that and told me to calm down. A few days later the trip was cancelled because our advisors from Sierra Leonne said don't go there at this particular time because of the outbreak. I left the company a few months later cos I lost all respect for the man I was working for.

You can see it you can feel it. Everyone who's around you (because you're successful) isn't really real around you, because they just want something from you. I can only really be real around my superiors, and they're business colleagues. Vince... at least in the since of wrestling, doesn't really have any superiors, or peers for that matter.

Vince may not have friends "outside" of work, but I'm sure that's not abnormal for someone of his level of wealth and success. Vince has employees like Mark Calloway, and John Cena, and Randy Orton that all admire and speak highly of him. Some billionaires don't even have the admiration of their colleagues. Vince also managed to raise 2 kids at his level of wealth that didn't grow up to be complete screwballs.

WWE/Vince never let that "No" go. Vince doesn't really have a life outside of the business so it seems so he can't relate to the Coach's one time he had to take time off for the obvious reason of his wife being pregnant. Vince doesn't have an off switch but others do and should. The Coach is really telling it like it is because he's not worried about burning that bridge with Vince and returning to WWE. He doesn't plan to, no chance in hell.

There are other stories like this to. I know people don't like Vince Russo but he's talked about this side of Vince (McMahon) and it's a big reason he left the company. Russo wanted time off to spend time with his kids and family or something and Vince's response was "get a nanny." Like you said, Vince doesn't have an off switch and he expects others to be the same way. I'm not sure he even understands that side of people.

Maybe his life USED to be all about pro wrestling. But as Jim Cornette has said MANY times "Pro Wrestling" as he as well as myself knows it is dead. And has been for quite some time now. When you have men and women spending thousands of dollars to attend a wrestling camp/school to become A PRO WRESTLER. Then they are signed to a contract by WWE and are labeled "sports entertainers". Isn't that contradictory to everything they ever dreamed of being...? Going so far as to not even call wrestling moves what they are but rather make up ridiculous acronyms for them. It's PRO WRESTLING not Cirque du Soleil...!!! This is why i stopped watching the WWE and it's shitty product. They have abandoned everything that pro wrestling stands for and it's a damn shame. It's not always about "the money" it's about your passion and craft and the talent you bring to the table. Now i only watch very few American indy promotions who still stick to there roots. And mainly Japanese Puroresu who have NEVER abandoned them to begin with. Vince's daddy is probably rolling in his grave with what his kid has done to that company.

Thanks Coach for the reminder wealth, power, pleasure and honor are dangerous moreso they're hindering us to find real friends. Mr. McMahon has an off switch. They’re both free to do whatever, the only thing remaining is the legal tie. And yeah, that one would be as messy as Jeff Bezos’ divorce, because Linda was an integral part of the growth of the WWF/E. She’d have every right to claim 50% of Vince’s stake, in addition to whatever she already owns. Meaning if that happened, she might be the primary shareholder. I’d say they probably have an arrangement where Vince doesn’t hinder Linda’s access to money, and Linda doesn’t formally divorce him. And they stay out of each others business.
