@@userbrytje008 That's not necessarily true. He was training to peak during the month but that doesn't mean there aren't other racing obligations on him and the team in the small events. There's the argument that racers could be in better shape by skipping those events. He was given the excuse to do so with his wrist surgery. But its also possible he could have been metering his pace in 2020. Its possible he was going slow then and this is his peak with a race that is just faster this year overall. We won't know until later in the Tour what the answer is.

As a Slovenian cycling fan I do hope that Pog will recover in some way or another and really have a go at it in the 3rd week. The thing is, today Pog did a better preformance than he and Roglic did in 2020 it's just that Jonas was simply the better one today and is the best rider in this tour right now. Yes, Pog did have an injury and it could've have taken a toll on him because he hasn't had a proper mountain stage in a few months but Jonas really seems unbeatable as of right now. But we will really see tommorow if Pog just had a bad dsy or if he will lose time. I do hope, for the sake of this tour to not be boring that Pog will attack in some way or another and that he is not completley done, I feel like that if UAE really get a good strat going on like Jumbo did in 2022 Pog just might suceed (yes UAE don't have riders as good as Kuss and Roglic and Wout) but I feel like they burned themselves out today for no reason as they made the mistake of letting that big of a group go up the road. The best thing in my opinion to do right now is for them to kinda sit back whilek Bora and Jumbo try to control things and maybe then launch somethinf for Pog. But I deffo see Jonas as the bettee rider right now despite being Slovene. Also been watching cycling only for three years so if anyone has some better opinions/views on this I completley understand!

You should always be wary of comparing performances from different years. What was the racing like prior to the stage? How much has already been wrung out of their legs? What was the temperature/ wind direction? Just a few degrees cooler can have a huge impact on performance. While I agree Jonas was fast today more then Pog was slow, I also don't think that current Pog or Heanley would of beat 2020 Pog by 50 seconds to the summit.
