Jonas Kaufmann launched his new album “Wien” - a deeply personal tribute to Vienna’s world-famous melodies - in Vienna’s beautiful Konzerthaus with Jochen Rieder conducting the PKF Prague Philharmonia and Rachel Willis-Sørensen as guest soprano. The concert forms part of the TV film “Mein Wien” which will be shown on ÖRF III on December 15 & on ARTE in France and Germany on December 21, 2019.

On his new album “Wien”, none other than the Vienna Philharmonic is a more natural fit for such a recording of evergreen hits from Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár and Robert Stolz as well as Georg Kreisler and Peter Kreuder, with the varied programme conducted by Ádám Fischer. Soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen joins on three duets, including the title melody of Wiener Blut. Jonas Kaufmann will take the same programme on a European tour in January 2020.

This was one of the very last pieces of music my grandmother listened to before she passed away yesterday on July 8th 2023. She loved listening to it so much when it was performed by the Wiener Philharmoniker with Jonas Kaufmann. Thank you so much for making her so happy at the end of all things. ❤

Alter Falter, der beste Stimmsitz, eine wahnsinnige Wandelbarkeit in der Stimme, der "Schmäh" , der "Seufzer" und und die Weltklasse. In einer Reihe mit den Großen
Kaufmann is a German from München and yet he makes you think he is an Austrian from Vienna. He is a Wagnerian tenor and his feeling is acting, at which he is also excellent. To say nothing of his talent to communicate with his audiences. I hope this new album and TV film are a success, he deserves it.

Just returned from a wonderful week in Vienna. A city so full of music and dreams that one can easily imagine (almost) everyone knows how to sing, play and dance. One can only pity the "serious" instrumentalists who don't sing a little in their spare time.....
A star of the first magnitude. So happy to have lived long enough to hear him.
