Late fees can def creep up on you - especially with DVDs and such. At one point I owed the library over $100 and I started getting collection notices in the mail. Fortunately, one of the dudes that worked at my local branch was mad awesome and he cleared if up for me for like $40. Punk rock kids unite!! ☠

When I was growing up our library let you return overdue items on Wednesday for free. So they didn’t even really have late fees lol

Kids these days won't understand how hard it was to do homework back in the 1990's, 1980's and before that. No internet or computers to use. Can't google search information for a paper due in class, internet wasn't around back then. had to spend like 2-5 hours a day looking through books trying to get the rite answers/information to write a paper. I literally spent Monday through Friday after school at two places in 1990's, at the Park or at the library for a decade from (1990-2000).

It's like a $15-20 late fee (* per book checked out) in San Francisco,CA if you don't turn in your books, audio or video tapes in time. Happened to me in the late 2000's had to pay a $12 late fee for keeping Books 7 days past due date.

Imagine being married for maybe five years in and you find this out from your spouse FOR THE FIRST TIME 😂
