Fedor in his prime was the best version of a MMA fighter ever. He had amazing technique in all aspects, strength, explosiveness and the strongest mindset of all time. Jones was caught cheating many times and always fought smaller opponents and arguably lost in his prime to Gustafsson and later to Reyes.

@@Angelo-yr1en Randleman was overrated, he lost to every great fighter he fought except Cro Cop with a lucky punch. The only way Fedor would beat Jones is only by a submission. Jones had too much reach, he was very versatile and most importantly, if you've watched Jones fights, you've known how lethal his elbows are, he broke people's nose with those, if he land one clean elbow, he would bash Fedor's forehead open and start bleeding to the point the ref or the doc would stop the fight.

This is a good point. We haven’t seen Jones against many fighters who have the same reach and size as him. But fed or would be the smaller man if they fought.

I think it would be the greatest fight in MMA history. In my opinion, it would be Fedor who would win against Jones, if they could have fought both in their prime, i.e. the current Jones against the 2010 Fedor. Jones' striking is a striking that hurts. He is formidable at weakening his opponents with very violent elbows or knees, and this has allowed him to inflict many tkos. But against Fedor you really need considerable punching power to stop him. He withstood Cro Cop kicks and Kevin Randleman's terrifying slam, and I don't think Jones can send that much power. On the other hand, Jones has never been knocked out in his career. Even if he has never faced a puncher as powerful as Fedor, I can't imagine him being knocked out. Jones would be aware of the dangerousness of his opponent and would rather seek to frame him to win on points. Fedor will be acutely aware of Jones' reach advantage and would try to break the distance on striking explosions before taking the fight to the ground for ground and pound. Jones' specialty on the floor is chokeholds. He very often wins this way and it would represent a danger for Fedor. But conversely, Fedor's submission ability would be very dangerous for Jones. If the fight goes to the ground, in my opinion it will necessarily be because Fedor will have achieved a takedown, and Jones would find himself in very great difficulty. He would take serious damage in ground and pound, and would be likely to be tkoed. If it is Jones, on the other hand, who manages to put himself in top position, which I doubt, he would be at high risk of suffering a kimura, even if he would still be able to place a choke. To put it in a nutshell, I imagine a fight where Jones would win on points during the first rounds but would be hit hard by Fedor's outbursts in striking. In the clinch, Jones would find success with his elbows and knees, but would likely waste a lot of energy attempting takedowns, and be hit off the clinch by Fedor. In the majority of scenarios, I imagine Fedor winning in the fourth round by tko with ground and pound or by submission. Otherwise, I see Jones winning by decision having found more success in his strikes. A plausible outcome but which, in my opinion, is less likely to occur.

No offense, but Fedor would be the goat of MMA. Fighting even taller guys than him, 7 feet, 6'8, 6'5. Remember, Jon Jones struggled against Gustaffson and Reyes with both possessing almost the same height with Jon Jones. Also Fedor dominated his opponent like an adult vs a child encounter. There are people that would say, but he lost to Henderson but Fedor was way past his prime.

I like the idea but gsp turned down the fight with silva when he head kicked vitor belfort right in front of him. Also Silva never loss in his prime only in pride not in cage rage or ufc. GSP got knocked out by matt serra. GSP Training was probably better than Silva tho

Fedor beat 7 or 8 UFC champions and guys from PRIDE like Werdum, Shogun, Rampage, Anderson, Nogueira, Overeem, Hendo, Hunt all became champions or fought for the title. Fedor being the natural heavyweight has the power advantage and after seeing Jon getting beaten by Lyoto in striking despite his reach advantage, I would give Fedor the edge... however, a sneaky elbow from Jon could change the direction of the fight. But then again, after seeing Fedor recover and destroy top opposition while he himself was getting dismantled is something Jones would find as a nasty surprise. Fedor's ability to recover is inhuman. When it goes to the ground, Fedor's superior strength will play in his favour. Otherwise, I think they are equal in terms of skills and versatility in this aspect. My verdict: Fedor wins unless he fails to see a couple of nasty elbows which will turn the tide to Jones. And if Jones pulls some dirty tricks that he can get away with, e.g. poking the eyes, he also wins.

Okay, Lyoto landed 3 puches, and Jon dropped him in the second round on the feet, Jon Jones wasn't even dropped in his carrier, never rocked, in the last 15 years Jon is fighting only top contenders, Fedor was dropped and rocked by Fujita, he was taken down by Coleman all in his prime, Jon in his carrier was taken down myb 3 times, and was immediately up, he spend myb 30 second on his back in his carrier, let's be real here, he isn't close to Jones.

Creo que se te olvidó recordar que Fedor en su mejor momento usando peleaba en la empresa Pride el primer raund duraba 17mnts el segundo raund 5 y el último 3mntos , así que en su menor momento Fedor tenía un cardio brutal que le aria frente a Jones sin problema creo que el récord invicto de Jones habla mejor de el , pero en dificultad de oposición creo que Fedor tuvo oposición más difícil que Jones . Great video. I could see this being a trilogy. I can see either one winning in different ways. Calling out a fight before it happens to say this person would definitely win is the biggest mistake people make in betting. Anything can happen in a fight and if you haven't seen it then you haven't watched fighting. This would be an awesome matchup to watch.

@@clenchedteeth I know, fedor is a judo black belt and an international master in sambo.. but his clinching techniques as he explains in many videos are Greco Roman wrestling.. Jones clinching comes from Muay thai .. both are master of their clinch, so which of those styles is superior should be the question… that is where Jone elbows could play a decisive roll… technically there is no clinch in judo nor in sambo.. it’s grips.. and yes combat sambo is in itself mma..but well that’s my opinion, iam not saying iam right..

FEDOR of PRIDE & AFFLICTION would beat Jones. 2003 to 2009. Of of course after that he was on the decline after 10 years & 31-1. He also was 26 when he won the PRIDE Championship. And never lost it. And, at the time PRIDE was far bigger & a more stacked MMA then UFC. It wasn't even close. And, Fedor destroyed everyone they put in front of him in every way possible. Then, carrying over to Affliction beating the ufc top 2 heavyweights at the time & making it look easy. Of course Brett Roger's ( strikforce Derrick Lewis ) was his last great performance.

First Jones only loss was an illegal elbow. So with Pride rules your only adding to what Jones is allowed to do. Fedor is a problem but one Jones has the answer to. The length and how Jones uses it would win him the fight. Jones also is coming from a different Era of fighting when being the master of one gets you nowhere far. Fedor was actually ahead of his time with striking and wrestling against a lot of competition with one solid background of fighting with either they was a striker with little grappling or a grappler with little striking experience. That's all Jones has fought is hybrid fighters. If Jones wants to stand and bang would be Fedor only shot and even then he would have to KO Jones. Other than a KO I don't see Fedor winning but with Jones I see he could win at any way. Not saying Fedor has no submissions I just don't see him getting an opportunity to apply one. Would be a great fight with Jones winning a decision. Both are not easy to KO nor sub especially in Fedor prime days. Both are the best in their generation. People need to stop sleeping on Jon because of his personal life, I think he doesn't get his props because of that. We loving judging people especially public figures but they're human too and shouldn't be held to such a high standard of life that 95% of us don't live

Hmm, we don't know yet for sure. Because Dominick Reyes was well under 300, and Jones really struggled with (I would even say lost to) him. But I do favor him over Fedor stylistically.
