In some of those, his aggression did him in. He hit guys and went for the kill but got surprised. Werdum and Henderson, specifically. I think he wins those if he doesn't jump right on em after knocking them down. Kudos for them on taking advantage though. That's what fighting is. It happens. In the losses to Bader and Meathead, he wasn't aggressive enough. Let them take the fight to him first. That doesn't happen in his prime.

@@SuperKpill I don't think he had the flexibility to do high kicks as he once did by this stage in his career, though I think that's more due to injury than conditioning. He just adjusted to use his movement to set up punches instead, a proper classy pro. He did carry on too long though, like he absolutely didn't need to go for a second time with Ryan Bader, who probably outweighs Fedor by at least 25lbs and faster by that point than the 46 year old Fedor.
You could kinda tell Fedor was sticking to mostly boxing out of respect for RJ, he needed to stop him but didn't want to tune him up more than he needed to. Also, the Japanese crowd is so quiet 😅 packed house and can still hear every grunt from the fighters lol

He felt that his best bet at weathering the storm that was Fedor was to come in as heavy as he could. Granted this is a man that is notorious for hating training but he’s still a professional and that was the game plan.
@KrunoslavStifter
9 ай бұрын
@@aperezdeal If that was a game plan , it was a very flimsy one. Like his middle section. With lower weight classes, maybe he could take the shots, but at heavyweight that is a different story. The guys at HW hit hard even when they have no skills, because how large they are. I think everyone knows, he came for the paycheck, and they put the fight on because of name recognition. Weather it attracted enough curious people to cover the cost of it, I don't know, but MMA fans have a notoriously pretty low bar for fights.
