The way Machida slumps to the ground while Jon walks away will always be iconic and symbolic of how dominant of a fighter he was. And it’s crazy how anytime he took someone down, whether it was a traditional wrestling single/double leg takedown or even just pulling guard, his opponent was going for a ride. Dude has freak strength.

Silva, Fedor, Khabib, and Aldo had it as well, but none had the unbelievable athleticism; DJ might be the only guy to look as unbeatable as well as being so athletically gifted. Also that Gus fight was his greatest battle, Reyes was also really great, but got'damn that Gus fight was good.

My favorite fight here is probably the thiago santos fight because it was an elite display of jon's kickboxing and mauy thai. He's like if Izzy has better defense, employed more elbows, knees, teep kicks and oblique/side kicks. Jon doesn't have the back dexterity to do the pull back like izzy but he understands range very well he knows where he's in danger and when he can coast

Cain and stipe both fought at 240 and didn’t cut shit cause they were legit the best regardless of size Jon is 6 foot 4 with an 84 inch reach the longest in the entire sport and cause he’s got chicken legs he can cut to 205 and dominate smaller men ... he will never be the goat till he wins that heavyweight belt and does it clean then i will admit it not until then💯

Its really interesting that there were alot of close call moments in all of Jones' title run. For example in the Sonnen fight, he broke his big toe and nearly snapped it off of him. If that fight made it to the end of the round, ref wouldve probably stopped it and Chael wouldve been champ. If Anthony Smith made an Aljo when he got kneed he wouldve been champ too. Cain Velasquez was 6 foot flat and 240 and was a monster ... Jon has always been big enough to fight heavyweight he just never wanted to because his height reach and weight advantage at 205 was part of what made him so dominating... well that and pictograms😅 but against men his size that hit like a truck he knows one mistake and it’s night night and that’s his biggest fear ... he will find a way out of that francis fight mark my words if the ufc and francis get a deal done that dude will end up in prison for beating a homeless person to death or some shit lol anything to avoid that fight cause he knows

Then watching him on Ultimate Fighter, he seemed like such a mature and genuinely kind person. He was a great leader to the guys he was coaching. It really seemed for a while like he had it all, save a few blemishes. It’s sad that he made so many poor decisions in the public eye that ruined that reputation. Otherwise, he absolutely would be widely considered the GOAT without question.

I agree with Jackson when he says that front kick to the opponents knee should be disallowed, he rightly states that it can just too easily ruin a Fighters knee-joint and end their careers. He went on to talk about risk minimisation being imperative in a sport where literally every strike already has the potential to destroy years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears. It shouldn't be about destroying your opponents body, every Fighter understands that choosing to fight is made with accepting the risks, but to have your leg or arm joints destroyed when a rule could have prevented that from happening, is the same as that choice being taken out of your hands and it then being used to ruin your career.

Just take a second and look at all the people he beat in this compilation, think of all the fights we have watched them shine, I mean people go on about Khabib being undefeated but look at Jones resume, it's insane he beat so many former world champs and beasts in their own right

These were all top notch opponents at the time too. Legends in their prime. Plus Trt Vitor who I still believe is one of the greatest fighters of all time

I love boxing and its actually very enjoyable having a Spa with your mates. Landing hits feels super good and taking hits also gives you a good feeling. But man... these elbows are killer .. I practice them and I'd use them if I needed to, but they are so damn dangerous.
