They score effective striking, not putting on a show. Reyes did nothing to Jon with all his output, the main damage that he caused was gassing himself, barely surviving at the end.

Maybe that judge noticed Reyes was going backwards for four rounds. The only round he clearly won was the first. Then he backpedaled the rest of the right. You’re not going to win a fight going backwards. Especially if it’s as close as this one was.

@@nov3m472 I don't think so, we saw clearly that Reyes won 3 rounds, i don't know how to think that Jon Jones won when he lost 3 rounds in a 5 round fight.

Round 1- dominant for reyes Round 2- close but CLEAR for reyes Round 3- close but good arguments could be made for either (i give a slight edge to jones just cause of pressure) Round 4- dominant for jones Round 5- dominant for jones (reyes was just trying to survive in the final round) Tired of people letting their bias get in the way for both fighters. Extremely close fights DO NOT mean it's a robbery. I watch this fight back and am always 50/50 on the 3rd round what a performance from reyes to come and assert himself early, and for jon to rally back in the fight. Would love to hear opinions on that 3rd round though.

Reyes should have won, but it was still close. There have been way worse decisions. There were outlets that scored this fight for Jones, and they have nothing to gain from that. That never happens in complete robberies. Reyes won in a very close decison. I wish he would have finished stronger, that might made the difference to the judges. The guy who had it 49-46 is nuts though, just fire him. That make less sense for rigging too though, because no one would ever make it that obvious. He really was dumb enough to score it like that. He should never be allowed to score a fight again.

The reason Reyes had the eye of the Tiger in this fight and hasnt had it since is bc of expectations. No one thought he had a chance in this fight so he had nothing to lose and didnt give AF. Balls to the wall. Came out Blazing 🔥 But after this fight, everyoen expected Reyes to be the next big thing especially after Jon left soon after. So Reyes started feeling the pressure and started overthinking. No more balls to the wall.

Perhaps judges considered the last 2 rounds of Jones taking the upperhand dominant, which basically means 10-8, and so that pretty much explains why Reyes lost by 1 point. Plus if u are a champion, u automatically have the upperhand in scoring as far as i know. So this fight was as close as it gets, but Jones won after all. And takedowns are more gamechanging overall in terms of scoring than strikes too.

Jones was winning the entire back end of round 1 and probably could have knocked him out if he had capitalized on that super flush headkick. People are hyping up Reyes because he came out really strong at the start of the first three but Jones was beating him in the 1st and 3rd resoundingly at the end of both rounds and completely had his nmber by round 4. Round 5 Reyes didn't even want to be in there anymore.

Reyes got taken down twice landed less significant strikes did less damage and was running away most of the time. That’s factual. Maybe off of points Reyes should've won, but his performance was not enough to deserve taking the belt and if you take into account the actual effectiveness of the shots Jon could've easily gotten round 2 because he was clearly less damaged than Reyes.

Tbh that body shot that look like a down, Jon was off balance. That seemed like the biggest moment cuz it LOOKED the most effective until you watch it and see what actually happens. Dom had 1 hands down 2 still crisp and then 3 Jon started turning the tables. I felt like 3 was even until Jon started landing takedowns and applying control. 4 Jon started putting it on him with elbows and lower body kicks plus another takedown and 5 Jon picked it up a bit more effectively also landed another takedown. Tbh it could’ve been a draw too. But with the progression of Jons performance and Reyes gradually slowing down if there was another round Jon would’ve finished him.

That’s not how game works. You win by getting more points from all 5 rounds. Not winning more rounds…. Jones won the last 2 rounds by far more than Reyes won the first 3

one of Jones' biggest assets is how he's always in the fight even when its a fight he's losing and he starts to slowly almost take over, that's not something any fighter can do

Whats crazy is that he had this long losing streak while giving Jon such a hard fight. The UFC is truly a competitive environment man. Holy shit

I think 2th round it's for Jones too. If You count the strikes landed, You can see most of the reyes strikes keep on the Jones guard. You can't take off the belt of an multi-champ like Jones whit just a close figth, it would be unfair.

@@ufc_silva What you are missing is the rules for MMA. If Reyes was winning say rounds 1-3 and it was pretty close then the judges will give 10-9, 10-9 and 10-9. The later rounds Jones was clearly dominant and Reyes was tired and running. So even though he had won the close 1-3 the judges might have scored 4 or 5 with a 10-8 or 10-8 for example. That would end with 45 Reyes and 47 Jones. Do you understand? Even if it was 2, 10-8 rounds for Jones in the 4th and 5th the points would still be a victory. Here are the rules www.dca.ca.gov/csac/forms_pubs/publications/unified_rules_2017.pdf With that being said. I think Reyes fought a good fight but it's a 5 round fight and not a 3 round. If it was a 3 round fight he would have won. Dominance is considered in the scoring and Jones dominated him and took him down in those last rounds.

Really dont understand how anyone can say Reyes won other than just wanting to have a reason to hate on Jon. Reyes is a great fighter and had some significant shots in the first couple rounds but Jones looked like the better fighter the whole time. Reyes did nothing in this fight to say i should have the championship over Jon. Ignore the jusdges scores. If youre going to win the championship by decision and not a knockout then you better make sure youre in control the whole fight. Im not talking about a minute interval or two of control by Reyes. Im talking the pace of the whole fight. Jones never stopped pressuring, defended well and even controlled the last 2 rounds with ease. If that foght keeps going then its relatively obvious Jones is going to win. Dude still looked fresh in round 5.

I revisited this fight and the 1st round was closer than I thought back then. Most people believed that the punch was knockdwon, and sure Reyes had a couple of good rushes, but Jones was tearing his leg, including that vicious oblique kick and a hard kick to the face.

I have seen this fight 6 times now, and not once have I thought bones won.

Do I think Reyes won the first , yes. But I could see them giving it to Jon. You have to remember judges don’t see the fight on any type of monitor, they only see the fight from 1 angle, live. Jon’s was landing a lot of kicks and walking forward the whole time. Reyes did land more to the head, but he didn’t look as smooth doing it. And the drop, looked more like a slip, not a clean drop. I could easily see that round go to Jon. Especially not seeing it from all the angles we see the fight from.

Reyes defo won rounds 1 and 3, and Jon defo won rounds 4 and 5. Round 2 is extremely close and determines who won the fight. In my opinion Reyes was winning round 2 at the start, then Jon began to land better shots. Coming into the last minute of round 2 they were tied in my opinion, however Reyes stole the 2nd round in the last minute landing the better shots. Just my opinion though.

You’re not taking into account that Jon was the one moving towards Reyes the whole fight Reyes was running and only throwing counters. Moving forward Time is what judges also take into account and they’re not gonna give you the belt for running from the champ

Definitely a close fight. I gave Reyes the first three rounds and Jones the 4th and 5th. I can understand the 48-47 scores... but 49-46.... that's terrible. I don't think the fight was highway robbery but that last score is certainly questionable.

I had to rewatch it as a judge to see what happened. So we can all agree Reyes fucked Jones up way more than the other way around. Unfortunately, fights are scored per round, not as a whole. So if we break it down round by round, it actually makes sense. Jones won rounds 4, 5 no question. Reyes won rounds 1, 3, no question. The two judges that gave Jones round 3 were smoking glass in the parking lot before the fight. Now as for round 2, its a very close round and very deceiving. In the beginning of the round, Reyes looks to be having jones in a world of trouble, but if you rewatch, most of it is dodged and rolled. Afterwards Reyes slows down and Jones takes over that round, and finishes strong with some good shots to reyes. Close round still, but Jones edges it out at the end. Rewatch it if you need to, that round 2 could go either way but im edging it to jones. Either way this fight is a 48-47, anyone who says different was smoking glass with the judges.

My opinion after watching the fight: Reyes won rounds 1, 2, and 3, Jones won rounds 4 and 5. How can you not pay attention to the early rounds. Jones didn't win either round 4 or 5 10-8. I love Bones but that was robbery. If the fight went 6-10 rounds, I think Jones would have won but that's no given. Reyes was powerful, threw great shots, some from tricky angles. I never watched this fight. Only reason I watched it was some other channel had a clip, in the comments they said "Some say it was robbery". People responded by saying it was robbery, all of 'em from what I saw. I agree. I think Reyes got robbed. Last judge....who knows what was going through their head.

Watching this fight for a 5th time now with the same astonishment from the commentary to the judging. Reyes pieces Jon up for 3 ends while Jon pushed the pace and pushed he face, body and legs into many unanswered shots. What gets me is the knee Jon lands CLEARLY after the horn of rnd 3. Dom even puts his hands up like wtf and not even a warning. Reyes won the first 3 rounds minimal

I am watching this fight too sometimes and i still think Jon won 2,4,5 for a little diff... now let's discuss the rounds in my opinion... The 2nd the flurry of punches didn't hit of Jon... unless you count punches in the air kkkk and some was blocked even the low kicks of Reyes... Also you see Jon hitting the legs constantly and hitting jabs n body shots in the 2nd round... while also pushing forward... 4th round could go either way... But still jon for my opinion got a slight edge towards the middle and end of round by the takedowns and some good shots... 5th is clear for Jon... I would say even the 1st round is debatable... because Jon was eating the legs of Reyes constantly and putting him in the edge of the octagon... Reyes landed a body shot that dropped him only that... nothing effective... and two good shots that landed after that... those were good and made him retreat... but even after that you see Jon putting pressure on the legs and dictating the pace throughout the fight and putting Reyes at bay most of the time... and even landing a good high kick towards the end... I agree the diff was minimal... but not clear cut people is saying that Jones was pieced up in the first rounds if you analyse slowly n deeply... The flurry and the rush of Dom in the first rounds was impressive specially in the 2nd... but not so effective landing the striking shots... that's why people didn't watch the shots not landing because it was fast neither some blocked... Those fights u need to have a second look...

Jones always struggled and looked mediocre when he faced guys his size. Most of his steamrollings were over smaller guys and Anthony Smith. Even Rashaad Evans made him struggle and that guy on one leg who came up from middleweight took him to a decision and could have got the win on the scorecards if the judges weren't just there to give jones a win.

Unanimous is crazy. I barely can see split but damn unanimous is wild

Keep dreaming buddy jon in the round three his shots has more affect than reyes’s shots and jon controlled the center of octagon and pressure toward domineck consumly and the people like you have a question about round 3 that was close round and the judges give this round to jons that’s why jon jones won this fight

I watched this fight live and Reyes won. Watched it again today and I know Reyes won. Jon won round 5 that's it.

Funny how one judge scored the first 4 rounds to jones 😂

@@ArjunMangat69 jones clearly lost rounds 1 and 3. Watch round 2 again and make sure you score the other factors of mixed martial arts like kicks, takedowns, etc. a lot of people only score big swings and think they know mma. Round 2 was a swing round, but I definitely would give it to Jones

Reyes absolutely won round 1 because of the strikes and the knockdown punch. He actually did better overall in round 2 than in round 1, landing impressive strikes and an especially nice uppercut to Jones' chin. Jones also performed better in round 2, but Reyes performance in both rounds 1 and 2 interchangeably defeat Jones first 2 rounds. In round 3, the only thing Jones did "better" was to advance toward Reyes, but once Jones reached Reyes, Reyes kicked him in the face, punched him in the body, and landed an even more epic uppercut on Jones than he did in round 2. Reyes begins round 4 by aggressively punching Jones in the face and jaw and turning his head more than once, making Jon fear his standup and go for the takedown. However, Jon does get a takedown and lands a significant elbow, some solid strikes.... Reyes still lands intermittenty throughout round 4. Reyes decisively gets 3/4 of these rounds, and it can be argued that round 4 was even, but if you have to choose, it is a Jones round. Jones also won round 5 more clearly. Jones only clearly won 1 round. Reyes dominated

Reyes won this fight ... He clearly won the first 3 rounds . The fifth round was close also 4th was all Jones tho but overall most significant punches was Reyes's punches

Considering only 1 judge gave Reyes the 2nd rd u could be right but I doubt it I saw him missing ALOT

Those later rounds killed it for Reyes.. had the title been vacant and had he won another round and not tired out then I think he would have won.. It was a great fight though!! Those numbers are something else 😅
