He isn't really that fundamentally sound though, in fact other fighters and commentators always say, don't try and replicate the way Jon Jones fights because it will not work for people that aren't him. He's just long, athletic and incredibly smart (INSIDE the ring).
Jon has developed a variable attack with literally each leg both from staggered and squared up stances. It’s amazing how he’s able to be so agile and quick that he can snap a front kick with KO power as easily as an equally debilitating oblique kick.

Thanks for the awesome vid, those slow motion clips really show how sketchy bones Jones is
“Very beatable” ~ Anthony Smith
“We are not protecting the belt , we are attacking MORE belts” crazy. If you try to take something from Jon he doesn’t protect what he has , he takes what YOU have and that’s insane to fight against as a challenger.

I remember watching this , smith was in there helpless ! Jones was using him as a human training bag lol
The way he intentionally failed to finish him just play with him more and knew he could afford the illegal knee... Jon Jones is legitimately deeply terrifying
he throws so many different things that you just don't know what its gonna be only a counter striker can trouble him because he can't just throw this comfortably, that's why Reyes did well because he was countering with the left hand.(I'm not one of the people that thought Reyes schooled Jones or anything but it was a really close fight) Reyes counters well sometimes but I don't think he counts as a Counter-Striker.

Reyes had success because he bum rushed jones with combinations and was able to get inside. Reyes is not a counter striker at all he’s aggressive and offensive. Jan is a counter striker, and as we’ve seen over the history of jones fighters that sit back defensively and wait to counter get picked apart by jones reach. The only success we’ve seen against Jon is very aggressive strategy.

my favorite technical destruction in that fight was the knee to the head
cant wait to see jon fight heavyweight man. that is a VERY dangerous man.
This fight is at least tied for my personal favorite fight along with a number of others but its particularly special due to Jones being my all time favorite fighter by far. Such a treat watching him win the belt against shogun and then never ever losing since. He has a certain mentality, a brilliant darkness about him in the cage that other fighters don't have. Its so special that he can spend a fight camp doing cocaine and drinking consistently, instead of training, and still win. Not only win, but go 5 rounds and secure the win in the FIFTH fucking round with pure demonic grit. Love this shit
People saying Smith was salty is kind of ridiculous if you remember he could have easily not continued after that illegal blow by Jones! He kept fighting which shows 1 IMPORTANT THING! He honestly wanted to earn victory in the cage vs Jones, the Win itself was not more important than Smith’s own competitive integrity. Thats a true fighter, rather continue a losing battle than to be given any free or un-earned victories. And for Smith to say after or even before the fight that Jones was not “that good” or that “Jon Jones is human like everyone else” is not him being salty its a fighter believing in himself and his ability to make improvements even after losing, he’s trying to learn and or gain what he can from the loss. For any fighter to just say they are just not good enough or cant beat Jones after losing to him would mean they probably should not be in the UFC to begin with.. at that level if you dont have the belief in yourself that you have what it takes in you to be the champ in your weight class, well than your just going to get yourself hurt unfortunately. We have seen SO MANY fighters UFC & Boxing handle defeat poorly and conduct/present themselves awfully in the same situation as Smith was in, its a shame. So I tip my hat to the man, respect should be shown to those that earn it. Especially from us fans watching from OUTSIDE the cage!
Jones works everything and well and just controls every aspect of his fights it’s really amazing
Greatest of all time
Herb was channelling his inner mazagatti with the two points deduction 🤣🤣🤣
