It was announced in June 2022 by dana white that Jon was ready and looking for an opponent, that it would be either francis if his knee was healed, or stipe as the backup. Francis refused to sign a new contract and officially left the UFC 7 months later in January 2023. Gane was the 3rd option since Stipe wasnt ready to fight, cut the excuses every jones hater out there was glazing Cyril Gane like crazy to beat jon jones. "Jones struggles against people his own size" "Jones couldnt even take down Reyes theres no way he takes down Gane at heavyweight" were the popular topics by the vile creatures that hate Jon and obsess over the fact of seeing him lose. Dana white announced it during an interview on the Jim Rome Show quote June 27th 2022 “we’re just waiting for an opponent it’s either going to be Francis depending on how long his knee is going to take to recover, or stipe miocic” The way it unfolded was Francis fought gane January 2022 and finished the last fight of his contract, he got knee surgery and was supposed to be discussing a new contract with the super fight with jones, he dragged it out for a year before leaving. That’s just the facts, Francis refused to sign a new contract is why we didn’t get the super fight, and instead we got Gane.

He also demanded health insurance for every UFC fighter, he turned into a civil rights activist. If Francis doesn’t sign a contract then the blame has to fall on him for why the fight didn’t take place. You can’t blame jones for Francis not signing a contract it just doesn’t make sense.

I’m sorry but saying jones ducked francis when Francis refused to sign just doesn’t make sense at all. Francis kept every on hold for the entire year of 2022, and instead of signing a contract that had a super fight with Jon, he left to go 0-2 in boxing. Facts don’t care about feelings unfortunately.

Aspinal is on a 2 fight win streak and was gifted an interim title shot based on jones being injured. It was last minute and unnecessary. Aspinal has proven nothing at heavyweight. Everyone was claiming Jon was scared to fight at heavyweight. He did was Francis couldn’t do and destroyed gane like he never fought a day in his life, to pretend Jon is scared of anyone is actually laughable. Talking about a fighter who’s never been wobbled or close to being finished in 16 title fight wins, never been put on his back, never been in a position to be ground and pounded. Gane was just as big as Aspinal and much more tested at heavyweight than Aspinal. Gane cleared out the division he has 5 top 5 opponents on his resume only barely losing to Francis in a very close fight. Jones is in an entirely different league than Aspinal if just goes to show how fast people jump on hype trains to make assumptions like you do.
