Francis refused to sign a new contract and officially left the UFC 7 months later in January 2023. Dana white announced it during an interview on the Jim Rome Show quote June 27th 2022 “we’re just waiting for an opponent it’s either going to be Francis depending on how long his knee is going to take to recover, or stipe miocic” The way it unfolded was Francis fought gane January 2022 and finished the last fight of his contract, he got knee surgery and was supposed to be discussing a new contract with the super fight with jones, he dragged it out for a year before leaving. That’s just the facts, Francis refused to sign a new contract is why we didn’t get the super fight, and instead we got Gane.

Francis is not a god. He stepped in there with one of the most vicious punchers in the sport at a speed, defensive and technical deficit. This isn’t supposed to surprise anyone with a capacity to reason. And AJ usually defers to his coaches to rate his performances, you can go back as far as the Joseph Parker fight, that’s not a “gotcha moment.” Please save yourself the embarrassment and don’t attempt to denigrate an individual from a sport you hardly even watch.
