Jon Boat Rear Casting Deck Build | Part 2 - COMPLETE
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I finish the rear deck build by installing aluminum supports and attaching the lid using a stainless offset piano hinge. The framing method I came up with ended up working incredibly well and sturdy. Don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss the next video!

Nice. You can shave the carpet with a hair trimmer if the lid is to tight

Haha I actually did that before trimming the wood, I should have included that part! Great tip 👍
Aren't you worried about a spark from the battery near the fuel cell ?
@mvboutdoors

Good question, thankfully the main danger with fuel tanks comes from fumes getting built up then igniting. There is plenty of ventilation (the area isn't sealed) so any fumes would immediately vent.
How did you mount the deck to the boat without having screws show through or make holes in the carpeting?

I predrilled the and countersunk the holes before carpeting that way when I screwed them down the screws buried into the carpet and weren't as visible. It did the trick.
How to you mount you carpeted plywood to the boat frame? Did you run stainless screws through the top leaving it exposed? Ty. New subscriber. Can't figure out how you hid the hardware

Welcome aboard! I have a video for the installation of the panels here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lWGj09CKoaq-lJc.html Basically I countersunk stainless screws that went into the ribs of the boat, hid them within the carpet.

@@mvboutdoors ty. I've seen videos where they wrap the wood seat first then mount. Makes sense.
Hello Mike, I enjoy your videos, and I have used a lot of your input while building my own project boat, keep up the good work and thank you for your information, PS. what type of batteries are you using in your boat ???
@mvboutdoors

I'm glad they have been helpful! The one battery is a 50ah Lithium (amzn.to/3UuPe5W) -- It's been working really well and lasts all day with my electronics, trolling motor and graph. The other is an AGM starting battery, here is a similar one (amzn.to/3GzhrCP)
Looks great! Where do you buy the carpet?

Menards, it's called Foss Automarine Indoor/Outdoor Carpet.

My transom has an angle, did you bend the bracket to offset the difference?
@mvboutdoors

Yes! That's exactly what I did. The brackets attached to the transom were bent so the top side was level with the seat. I used 1/8 for those brackets.
