Industrial Electrician and Maintenance Tech here. I've been in this field my entire adult life. Residential, commercial, industrial and line work. Don't listen to the inexperienced keyboard warriors. You might not be perfect or doing it their way, but it looks good to me. I thought about a way you could've done the control board a little different, but that was just a personal preference of mine. You did a good job. It was a good video.

@@NICHOLASBYRNE3931no, if anything it adds slight resistance but nothing that would change the amp rating of the wire. Tinned is just good to protect from corrosion.

This video was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Never thought about a cut-off switch to shut everything down. It's on my shopping list! You are so right about skimping elsewhere, NOT on marine grade wire! I have one suggestion and you can take it or tell me to shove it. Next time a troll starts giving you shit about what they thought was wrong, etc. simply say "Thank you for sharing that with me." They never know if you are serious or screwing with them. If our paths ever cross remind me I owe you a rack of beer for taking time to share your expertise and time with us so we can get it right the first time. Thank You Sir!

Great tips. Very clean results. Those green manjamas were awesome 😃. I like to use to use that adapter piece (Reflector Nozzle) that fits on the end of the heat gun to concentrate the hot air on the splice, it also helps to save you from toasting adjacent wires or overheating the insulation on the wires you are splicing. I couldn't tell if your heat shrink was marine grade , I use the marine stuff it has a built in sealer. See you on the next one!

Fantastic job explaining the electrical elements of a little build. The mansplainer rant was a bonus. I am rebuilding my 12 ft v-hull once again. This time, to get it lighter and easier to load/unload, I am trying to make everything in the boat removable. I have more time than I have back strength and my favorite boat launch does not allow trailers.

You did a great job and the advice given is A grade, as someone who does a bit of automotive / marine wiring / instrument wiring. The only thing I generally do differently and its just a me thing.. I'll use glue lined heat shrink, liquid electrical tape (LET) and dielectric grease. If i cant use a glue lined piece of heat shrink ill paint the cable with the LET and slide the shrink over when it goes tacky. If its a solder joint with no glue lined ill put dielectric grease over the joint, then LET and then the non glue lined shrink. Ill also grease all terminals I am connecting (even auto plugs) to reduce the corrosion chance between the metals... Nothing worse than going to remove a panel or fix a term and everything has corroded together. on a side note and amazingly enough...When you were talking about the grounding to hull. I wired my mates Stacer Seamaster 519 last year and was horrified to find that they do a negative hull set up with a stud welded next to the battery and under the console. I questioned Stacer and got told because the engine (Yamaha F115) has a sacrificial anode in the engine and a second one on the trim plate the hull wont become an anode. We only run in brackish and salt water... the hull is showing signs of minor anode corrosion where the coating has been worn away with the beach landings we have done... Go figure Keep it up, love the channel

Two years later this motor is going strong kzread.infoUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

Fine job on the wiring. Agree with the statement about NOT grounding the electrical thru the hull but it has nothing to do with electrolysis, if any of your hot wires rub thru the insulation then you have a direct short with a potential for a fire if no circuit protection. Seen it happen.

Glad I could help. It really isn't that hard, but people get it in their brains that it is difficult and it scares them away from doing their own wiring... what the worst that could happen? Boat catches on fire and explodes? LOL
