Jon Boat Project Stability Results
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Finally got to test out the stability and it was a huge success. This project took way longer than it should have but the wait was definitely worth it. I hope you guys enjoyed the stability project videos and you could take something from it. This project is done but I will be doing many more boat projects in the future. Thanks for the likes, shares, subs, comments and of course thanks for watching!

i am about to start my project and trying to get as much info from several people on KZread. Your boat answered one of my biggest questions and that was stability. Did you try to equally distribute the added weight as far as front to rear? how much weight would you say total that you added to this boat? is there anything you wish you would have done different? Thanks

Two batteries, bow mount trolling motor, seat, decking and all I’d say around 150lbs added. Most of the weight is batteries. The decking is light and well distributed since it covers most of the bottom and sits in the bottom. The seat is very light as well. There’s obviously more weight in the front now so at least one other battery in the back of the boat is required to balance. It could hold more weight in the front but you’d definitely need to add to the rear to keep it balanced as it’s already front heavy. Without at least one of the batteries in the back the rear of the boat nearly comes off the water. For a narrow 1985 gamefisher and how I use a boat like this (trolling motor only) I think it’s the best and safest way I could’ve done it. I don’t think it would be safe with a gasoline motor or maybe I would’ve tried that? No regrets other than not using it more lol

Considering I’m just now seeing this comment...I guess I can say with confidence I definitely understand life gettin in the way. On a positive note this can be done very cheap and nearly free if you have the tools. One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure!
This is the project I’m starting up now. At 361lbs I need to make sure it’s stability is there😂. Awesome Video brother, continue doing what you do man. (BiggCoffee OutDoors Magazine)👊🏾

Thanks for sharing your perspective on the cost analysis. From my own research, one can purchase a oat, and over time, build it up to their specifications, This is a good example of what can be done with some effort and save some money if your on a tight budget.

Hey i have the same boat how did you get it stable
@DoingStuffChannel
6 жыл бұрын
Jay Callahan just put a floor in it...it’s not too too stable if your cornbread fed like me, but’s it way more stable than having a deck on it.
Do u trailer it or put.in truck.bed and how.much dose.it weigh??
@DoingStuffChannel

Truck bed...not exactly sure on the weight. I try to keep it as light as I can and just seesaw it in and out of the truck.
i have a 12ft jon boat, its a sears 1232, what im going to do is spit it all the way down the middle, an make a 1248 out of it an then raise the sides 4in, an then run a 25 or a 20 horse motor on it, what do you think, i meant 15 horse on it,

That would be interesting mod…
so how did u make it more stable?

By taking out the casting deck it put myself (weight) lower in the boat which put the center of gravity lower.

What’s that? Take the bench out?
@billymorales5052

Bass Merica bench? I meant the boat is 14 ft long and and the bottom width is 32 inches wide. I was wondering if I could do the same modifications that you did to your boat. But I have no idea about the stability if I added all that weight?
@DoingStuffChannel
5 жыл бұрын
@@billymorales5052 Gotcha yes, you can! It does weaken the frame of the boat by removing the bench since it's purpose is not only for sitting...it's actually apart of what keeps the boat solid. Personally if I had a 14 footer I'd keep the bench in and put decking over it. You shouldn't have the stability issues I was having with that size of a boat. I'd try that first and if it doesn't work then you can reuse the wood and just trim it to fit lower if need be.
Why dont you provide a link to the video where you show the stability system and what you did to achieve those results, so that people that find this video can go back and watch that one and give you some more views?
@DoingStuffChannel

It was just a simple matter of being able to sit on a seat that is attached to the floor of the boat. A few videos that were pretty bad showing bits and pieces of how I removed the front bench and added some decking. Those videos are public on my channel. I've had a hell of a past few years...but don't count me out. I'll be back...lol
I've always wanted a Jon boat. I've never fished Iowa but it look pretty great! Awesome vid man I just subbed! Check out my channel for some fishing content as well!
