Jon Boat Flooring

I finally installed the flooring for this small jon boat to bass boat project! With an actual floor installed I'll be standing and making my casts from a lower position in the boat which should help make this boat more stable and more comfortable to fish in. Standing and making casts from the casting deck I built last year (link below) was pretty shaky. I don't expect a huge difference but if I lose my balance out on the water hopefully it'll be a little easier to stay in the boat and not go for a swim. The stability issues I had with the casting deck may not be an issue at all for a smaller person. For a bigger person like myself this project might help but ultimately we won't know for sure until I get it on the water for a test run.

Some ponds here in jersey, you can only us row boats! Your definitely right. Lakes are shallow, but up north they can get deep..

I witnessed a guy get a ticket for using his trolling motor...smh And yea I'd like to plan some trips!

I got one that’s about 10 foot and my only problem is that it sits in the water too low. Did this help it sit up a little better in the water?

Chris Stockton no it didn’t change the buoyancy at all. This project just helps with center of gravity which makes it less wobbly and more comfortable.
What was put underneath the wood flooring? Want to do some mods to my job boat. Thanks!!

it's not attached only snug...It is not a speed boat so not to worry as long as it is a very tight fit...and under the trimming to hold it in place.

@@arfishing4310by having the seat attached to floor the weight is deeper inside the boat vs bench…physics…
What kind of wood did you use? I heard you can only use certain woods!

GONZO I used the cheapest non treated I could find at Lowe’s...apparently treated will cause corrosion with the aluminum and is also apparently unsafe to breath. I wouldn’t say (can’t) use certain woods, Im more of a do what you can with what you got plus a little research kinda guy. I chose to go non treated. But hey it’s your project at the end of the day.

Bass Merica yeah that would be great im just making sure before i start because once i complete it i dont want to have to repair anything in the short run just because im young and dont have sorce of income.and wont have the money to do so
