It was 1989. They were a new group who was appearing at the Underground in NYC. They came out and the crowd looked at them side ways. They sang their first song and was booed. They held their heads up high and prepared for their next song. The beat started and they began to sing. The crowd was hyped and the party was officially turnt-up! I remember it like it was yesterday.

NYC really never embraced the R&B Vocal House Jersey Sound during that time. It was still developing in 1989. However, in Newark, Jersey, at Club Zanzibar, they were our "En Vogue". Also, the pure "Club/House" scene in Newark was 99.99% Black so it was a little different from the multicultural House music venues in NYC. Don't get it wrong, Jersey was rough on vocalists, you betta sing on the stage at Zanzibar and Jomanda always rocked it for us.

Growing up in Africa, I only knew the Brenda Fassie version of this song "Ngiyakusaba" which was a massive hit that I still dance to today. Then this song came on my playlist and I was like whaaattt omg, I never knew Brenda's was a sample all this time. It's amazing to finally know about the original, such a great song!

It really all started with their hit “Make my body rock”! And then by the time this one came out Jomanda was primed and ready for the big time. This hit was all over the radio in L.A. and the clubs! It was so much fun dancing to this. Everyone was on that floor!

Oh my God....This was playing while was at the beach at the beach this summer with my 21 year old son and his girl and my 6 year old daughter and some other people we didn't even know they was getting down to this at Far Rockaway Beach in NY, we was hearing this, dancing and finding crabs, baby sharks and clams while getting down, I will never forget it. This song made the atmosphere so much fun. Thank you to my old school club shit. 💖💖💖 Thank you so much for the fun beach memories in 2018...
