Jolly Spiffing Tour of East London - Hoxton and Shoreditch
A most jolly spiffing tour with Joolz around Old Street, Shoreditch and Hoxton.
If you want to experience true, traditional east end food don't forget to go to F. Cooke in Hoxton Street. You can have pie and mash but I went for jellied eels.
The tour is actually more one of London History. This one starts at Bunhill Cemetery which has many famous people buried there.
Then, opposite is John Wesley's house, the father of methodism and a beautifully preserved Victorian lavatory.
Then off to see the first of Shakespeare's playhouses in London in Curtain road.
We pass through Hoxton Square and Hoxton Hall, one of two remaining Victorian music halls in London.
Opposite Hoxton Hall is the Monster Supplies shop where you can write a letter to a monster.
Music by Tom Carradine's Cockney Sing Along

If you added a map at the beginning of each video of the streets that you walked during the video it would be so helpful for tourists.

Jules, you are just too much. London is the most fascinating city in the world. Just got back and had an amazing time. It's the kind of place where a perfect stranger can roam around Hyde Park not even knowing there's a palace on one end. Yes, a palace which was showing a GREAT and UNUSUAL exhibit of Victoria's clothes. That's what is great about London. You will find amazing stuff BY ACCIDENT. Just get out of the tube and walk around. Maybe next time we really will have Indian dinner together.
Always a sterling job Jools! Nothing makes me want to wander around London town more than your vlogs!
Joolzy! You look stunning in your summer costume. Great look !!!! If I were rich, you would be my guide to everything British. Thank you..........

Oh it’s not a costume lol It’s his summer attire or wardrobe lol I doubt he would be offended by his clothing being referred to as a “costume” but kindness and good manners dictates that we refer to his clothing as either his outfit or his attire. lol And yes I’m playing about with you lol. Your comment is wonderful and well meaning. Cheers mate
Writing a letter to a lonely monster is just about the most wholesome thing I’ve ever heard.
Just recently discovered your videos. Humorous and historical, yet entertaining. Grand work my friend.
Her Majesty should knight you for your most excellent services in making London history fascinating and the city a joy to explore. Sir Joolz has a nice ring to it! (PS. The music is simply the BEST!)
Loved the ladies at the end. Real London characters. Bless em!
I get so much enjoyment from your Vidios, I think I have seen nearly every one, but you have made so many, so I guess to be honest I am working through them. I am a Londoner and was born in St John's Wood in 1929 now living in Sydney Australia since 1966, I have a Son Anthony age 63 who lives in Perth, he is coming over Dec 12th for abought 8 weeks or longer. I have recommended that he watch your Videos. Keep up the good work. You passed the house we lived in from 1960 to 1966 at 12 Stafford Terrace Kensington,, Where my son was Born.
I’ve been waiting patiently for a vid on a proper pie and mash shop from you.

Julian, thank you so much for putting in the historic old engravings of the sites we're looking at, then showing us the site now. It's really special to see what the site/building looked like, then to see it now! So thanks for thinking of doing that for us!! It's just amazing to see!

Thanks for all you do. Very enjoyable
Brilliant mate. Best tour guide on youtube by a long, long, way.
I worked in Hoxton for two years, and loved every day of it! Even over those two years it changed, and continues to do so. For better or worse, it’s always been an exciting place. Give me some Eel pie!

Wonderful. thanks.
You’re the best Joolz!
I came across Bunhill cemetery on my walkabout in London great video 👍👍👍
Thanks Joolz! Fantastic escapism during lockdown 2 in Haggerston. Now off to watch the Columbia Road, Brick Lane guide 😍
Another great video
Joolz I love your films!
Interesting, as always, Julius. Interesting garb this time around with the light colored garb and boater hat. I hadn't known the items about Ben Jonson.
Blimey Charlie Governor, jellied eels and mash. A proper cockney knees up in that gaff. It wouldn’t have surprised me if Danny Dyer and Guy Ritchie strutted into the place doing the Lambeth Walk
Your channel is a real gem. I'm going to London in October and I'm binge watching your videos!! Would you make a video about places in London to buy cheap (ish) vintage stuff like clothes and jewellery?? Just an idea, it would be quite nice to watch :) keep up the amazing work!!!
If I could, I’d subscribe to your channel every time I watch one, being once daily!! Love your videos and your dressing style is that of a dandy!
Thoroughly enjoyable, Joolz. An absolute classic! As an EastEnder who left for the colonies many years ago (and misses it terribly), I love it when you meander to the East side of our fair city. Can't remember the last time yonder was uttered in an EC postcode, lol!

So excited to see the Monster Shop! We have a similar thing- Greenwood Space Travel Supply- which fronts a creative writing charity here in Seattle, WA. It has a few branches each with a different theme. So cool to know, thanks!
Entertaining and knowledgeable.
Oh fer God's sake....after 20 years all over London, this Clactonian left and never looked back. That was fifty years ago. Wound up in good ol' USA. Your videos make me nostalgic and your sense of humor is full of tonic. Gin up and keep going.
Well done Joolz me old sunshine ! Nice one guvner !
That woman looks incredible for 90! Still got the wit of a comedian too!
Whooooo!!! What a fancy summer dress-up! Free Julian NOW! 😎
Great video! Love it!!!
Great video Julzey - these are my favourite type of video that you do, where you immerse yourself in both the history and the 'character' of a pocket of London. It might be too late to do this year now, but an idea possibly for a future Summer video - a Joolz Summer Holiday Special, visiting one of the standard locations Londoners would have visited for their Summer holidays (Brighton / Blackpool / Southend etc.) come the boom of the railways, to "do the history", a la the London tours, of what thy would have done and what's there now. Stupid idea? ...Maybe.
Just subscribed,wonderfully entertaining
Ah, just discovered this channel like a week ago, and I've been binge watching all the videos! Also, Little Lost Lou's music sounds amazing! I really liked the music in the Jack Ripper video, I will definitely check her out :)

I think the gelatin was to preserve the cleanliness of the cooked eel. The gelatin preserved it, kept the eel clean, and prevented outside bacteria from reaching the cooked eel.
