    Matt Man yeah, as Kevin Smith says the world of comic book characters is forever in "Act II" phase where there is rarely any final conclusion to character's archs. I think that's what made Logan stand out because they kinda did thier own thing. So, I'm all on board for the one off ideas. It would awesome to see like a Red son movie.

    My issue is this: DC always announces and rumours big out of the gate but then little by little move further and further away from that initial idea by committee decree until there's just a mess left over. WW is really the only recent exception to this, and even that has the obligatory CGI boss battle and talk that the studio didn't want the most iconic scene of the film to even be in there. I really want them to prove me wrong but I have so little faith that they're capable of not tripping over their own dicks.

    It's because of Geoff Johns. He is an incredible writer but when it comes to films, it seems like him and the people at DC haven't the slightest idea of what to do with their material. Without Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman film the DCEU be a complete failure.

    I always wanted to play Harley Quinn, but as im a bit to old and not as in shape, Margot Robbie was fucking awesome as her. In 2000 I hand sewed my own vinyl Harley costume, I also got a huge tat of her on my left forearm. It was so good i wore it 2 years in a row. I was 21 the second time, I was one month shy the first year. I wore it to a Mardi Gras event at my fav goth club, and they decided Halloween was going to be Arkham Asylum themed coz my costume inspired it. So naturally I had to show up Halloween there. Not ONE other Batman character was present. I was heartbroken not to find a Joker to play with that night, but I did win 2nd place in contest. Tron suit guy won first but he traded me prizes. Which was that wonderful huge poster print painting of Harley & Mistah J dancing together. I had NEVER seen anyone dressed as Harley back then for anything. Joker's once in awhile. Now, Ever since Nolan/Ledger Dark Knight you see multiple J's every Halloween. Harley tons since Suicide Squad, I believe I read that was the most popular costume the year the film debut. I agree with Kevin on a lot of this. As well as share his love and knowledge that Harley would steal the show once live action Harley debut finally happened. I had my copy reserved at my local comic shop when she was finally added into the comic world with her own comic series! I try to be open minded as far as film & tv go with making live action versions of comics & books I love. I see it as me getting to enjoy characters/story near and dear to me and that director/artists personal interpretation of it. Which may differ from source material but I get to enjoy getting to have more entertainment of is, as though I get another universe & dimension of something I fucking love good or bad. Bring it on people, I know it won't be cannon Joker telling, but I don't care. It's another Joker tale for me to watch.

    Leo as the Joker is one of the most exciting movie rumors I've heard since the initial squeaks of George Miller returning to Mad Max. The idea of a quietly menacing petty criminal growing into that kind of explosive madness is the reason why the range of DiCaprio could make The Joke stand out as a modern Richard of Gloucester (a.k.a.: Dick The 3rd)...

  • @22raf22
    @22raf226 жыл бұрын

    They could make a narrative where the Joker is following therapy in Arkham and him telling stories to his therapist Dr. Quinzel. And so we go through flashbacks from his newest adventures to the earliest and every story gets blurrier and blurrier and how every one of them ends with batman ruining everything. Until he tries to tell how he came to be and it goes ape shit crazy and none sense and it ends with him not handling it and going crazy and escaping Arkham. Last Shot is him being outside the asylum and a car waiting for him and a female voice saying :"what's the next adventure Mr. J?" That way we have kind of an origin story without settling everything.

    I've seen people Knocking this idea, but in all honesty.. This could be the biggest villain movie of all time. Leo can own this. I can see this like he said, the joker snorting coke and going off. Leo can play crazy. I think this role he can mix just about every character he's played into the Joker and make it epic. When I heard about Leo possibly taking on the joker, first thing I thought of was Leos character in Django Unchained. Then I thought of him playing the autistic kid in GIlbert Grape, then I was thinking about his role in Basketball Diaries and Wolf of Wallstreet how out of touch and off the rails those characters got. Then add a little of his character from Gangs of NY, the Revenant and of course his Cranberry juice scene from the departed.. you mix all those and you have one insanely crazy Joker...I think if he does that.. PURE EPICNESS!!!

    He got the basics of the character, but the characterisation wasn't given enough room to breathe. What should have been a main villain role became a supporting role in an already crowded movie. Once he's had more scenes with Harley, way more scenes with Ben Affleck's Batman and shown off more of the comic-inspired characterisation that is there, then they can move on. I'm guessing you didn't see the 'Justice League' end-credits scene.

    Hey Kevin, check out my "origin" on the Joker if you have time. One night at the Wayne mansion long ago, Martha goes to Thomas' study to tell him it's time for bed and for them to go upstairs. He declines and continues to work, as usual. Frustrated, Martha then goes into the liquor cabinet and begins to drink. She goes to her room closes the door then begins crying. Alfred hears Martha sobbing. Martha begins to tell Alfred she's tired of feeling neglected. Alfred calms her down, and they both begin to drink. One thing leads to another...Alfred wakes up sometime shortly after and returns to his quarters, neither of them tell Thomas to preserve the relationship and the Wayne family name. 10 weeks pass and Martha wakes up feeling sick. She goes to the doctor and finds out she is pregnant. Still in shock, she tells neither Alfred nor Thomas that the Alfred is the father. Thomas and Martha agree that they are not ready to be parents and give the baby boy up for adoption. The guilt of what she has done plagues Martha. She writes a letter to Alfred explaining everything - that it was Alfred's child she was pregnant with, and how she regrets abandoning him, but she decides not to give him the letter. The child that was given up for adoption has been growing up and living in orphan homes. He causes trouble and displays early signs of psychopathy. No family wants him and he is tormented by the other children. Eventually he goes mad. Years later, Bruce Wayne is born. Alfred is cleaning and stumbles upon a letter addressed to no one. He opens the letter begins to read. Alfred is furious and resents Martha for lying to him, and for giving up their child whom he would have loved. Alfred's resentment builds, and one night, he decides to follow a Wayne family outing in secret. After the show, they cut down an alleyway and are shot by an unseen figure guised as a robber. The man who shot the Waynes is none other than Alfred. He keeps Bruce alive so that he knows the pain of growing up parentless, like Alfred's own son, whom he tried and failed to find. In a cruel twist of fate, Batman's two biggest enemies are his own butler, Alfred, and his half-brother, The Joker.

Will DC create an event to combine these fan favorites, to collide into one universe? Creating a reboot of sorts? I'm officially hyped folks.

    You mentioned The Killing Joke as being out of continuity but The Killing Joke shaped The Batman Family for the next several years and in the case of Barbara Gordon being Oracle until 2011. So The Killing Joke may have been intended to be out of continuity at first but that didn't last one year.

    Sorry if you mention this later. Also, Gotham by Gaslight animated film in production, and often DC animation is used ahead of live action adaptions. Assuming GbG works, no unreasonable to expect a Batman Elseworlds live action film. This seems to be a direction that DC is going in, and full speed ahead. No reason at all to have one Batman continuity at a time when you can have three even if some are single film continuities.

    The "Multiple Choice" Joker origin actually did NOT originate with Nolan's films. In a monologue in "The Killing Joke," Joker has a line about what makes people like him and Batman do what they do: "Something like that happened to me, you know. I... I'm not exactly sure what it was. Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another... If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!" It's not Nolan. It's Alan Moore.

    I can see what your saying keeping 'The Joker' with no known identity or background and such as far as 'Bob Kane' goes writing the original comics ,but did he not share creative permissions with other writers? At first I thought to myself 'Leonardo Dicaprio' wouldn't make a good one ;however, he can act and his proven it time and time again. I personally loved 'Jared Leto' as 'The Joker', so %#*@ anyone who says different. I was just disappointed with the amount of screen-time he got because to me... He represented a culmination of a few different comic versions I liked as well reminding me the animated series' (kind of threw a flashback in my head of 'Mark Hamill (Although i thought he was hit and miss with me when I was a child). So I saw across my screen yesterday that 'Leonardo DiCaprio' as 'The Joker' then I got a strange urge to drink some liquor and clean out my liquor cabinet. Upon hallucinating in this drunken state it something strange occurred to me and I started thinking about how it could make sense for two different actors to be 'The Joker'. Alot of people here probably don't read the comics very much or watch the animated series.. (I swear I've read comics with similar basis to Tim Burton's 1989 film though Tim Burton always brings some beautiful creative uniqueness to anything he's done (Yes, I thought they were kind of corny ;however, in a good way if that makes sense... Like caramel and butter on popcorn. Kind of funny that 'Leonardo DiCaprio' kind of resembles ) So bare with me here. Picture Leonardo DiCaprio as 'Jack Napier/RedHood' pre-chemical vat and Jared Leto as 'The Joker' post-chemical vat because you know Batman goes batshit crazy damn near kills 'Jack Napier/Redhood' and accidentally pushes him into the vat of chemicals. Hell that could be the end of the damn movie even except with Batman trying to avoid getting shot to death by the police in a factory and 'Jack Napier/RedHood' barely scathing to life ;however, escaping in the nick of time to plot revenge against Batman. Remember something.... The Character was burned ,and bleached then had botched surgery, self-surgery (He even practiced on other people like Picasso before he did facial reconstructive surgery to himself) then had his teeth knocked out and his face smashed by Batman several times probably giving him boxer cuts because you know ribbed rubber and latex would probably cut a person's face up. An origin movie focused more in Joker's perspective should happen in my opinion. Not the whole movie of course ,but I think it could give more dynamic to the hero and villain complex. See if you pay attention he was always a psychopath and amoral ,but vain and narcissistic as well, so him falling into the chemical vat just kind of pushed him closer over the edge than he already was. I guess that they'd have to get creative to make Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto favor just a little more before such transition (Not even really much in my opinion (Good make-up crew could give this nice continuity) ,but they can't look exactly alike for a reason and even the voice has to be different. The voice before falling in acidic chemicals and then the latter. I kind of hope now I didn't ruin some screenplay writer's secret gem spoiling it with my crazy imagination. I could be wrong by I remember a comic named 'The Dark Knight Returns' which I believe for some reason that Christopher Nolan's movie were more adapted sort of from. Heath Ledger was amazing though, for some reason in my mind I picture his 'Joker' as a quite a bit older than 'Jared Leto's Joker' not even really like a different character ,but like a personality change. I don't know I was drunk on Everclear and Vodka when I was thinking about all of this.

    If we're gonna have a Joker Origins film, we need Scorsese or someone at his level who can actually tell WB "You're gonna let me do what I want to with this."

    they mentioned Growing Pains,look at another actor from that show,Walter Koenig who played Boner. he played the Joker in the short,Batman Dead End,that is a great performance with just a few minutes of screen time.
