Kevin Smith, there is a theory out there that it wasn't a "thumbs-up" BB-8 made with his torch, but instead was BB-8 flipping Finn off. Just something to consider.

Jules Vern and H.G. Wells, yo. Between them, and Mary Shelley, Steampunk has been around consistently for quite some time. Long before there was a term for it. (Honorable mention goes to Bram Stoker, mostly for the creation of Professor Van Helsing.)

Informally, "Steampunk" traces some of its roots to another William Gibson story. A collaboration with Bruce Sterling called "The Difference Engine", which was alt-future history if Charles Babbage got ubiquitous mechanical computers working during Victorian-era England.

His name is Walter O'Dim, aka: Walter Padick, Marten Broadcloak, The Man in Black, Nyarlathotep, Bill Hinch, Randall Flagg, Russell Faraday, Richard Fannin, Richard Freemantle, Rudin Filaro, The Covenant Man, Richard Fry, Robert Franq, or Ramsey Forrest. While it has never been definitively confirmed, it is also rumored that he himself was posing as "The Good Man" John Farson when Roland Deschain was a boy, and that he was the one who caused the wars that brought the downfall of Gilead, Stephen Deschain, and Roland's original Ka-tet. This guy changes names and faces like most people change socks and underwear. It is the same character in EVERY iteration, throughout Stephen King's work. He is one of the most prolific and antagonizing bad-guy characters that has ever been written. Even within the Dark Tower novels, he is known by at least 3 different aliases, though no one besides himself and the reader knows this fact. Anyone who ever figured it out, he killed immediately. Matthew McConaughey played the character perfectly.

Regarding the Dark Tower: Randall Flagg is one of many aliases that the character of Walter O'Dimm uses throughout the vast Stephen King universe, so yes, they are the same character.

Great show guys see you next time. (Did Bob find Amy, Did Batflec find Alyssa? Did Banky, Jay, Holden & Bob make a movie about Clerks and end up in Hollywood. Do they hang in front of a 7/11 in Cali till 1 day Alyssa walks in with Amy? I may be grasping at stories but Stephen King isn't the only one that's having trouble finishing them lol I wanna know if Bob Found Amy & I wanna know if Holden Found Alyssa i know you'd have one of these break my heart and one of them lift me up if the script was good ben might do it i dunno i'd love to see them together again im pretty sure thats the half of the story that would break my heart but if bob and amy found each other again itd be cool i look more like you than ben aflec anyway lol) itd have to be pretty real a version of you that didnt meet your wife didnt have harley never known that joy and one day the chase is over. Call it Loosing Amy and at some point there must be some heart felt discussion about how you already lost her once dammit "im not "loosing amy" again" title reference you could take from life you must have screwed up sometime so bad you were terrified of loosing your wife you are a human man these things happen we screw up take from life bring the feels i dunno i wanna know what happened.)

Steampunk as a coin term came later, but steampunk itself came waaaaaaay before, it started with Jules Verne and HG Wells back in the 19th century... I mean go read some Verne or even War of the worlds and there's virtually no difference between those and the 80s/90s steampunk movement as we know it. It's essentially sci fi with wooden vehicles, horses and monocles...

  • @nicholascross3557

Debatable. The common theme of the 'punk' genres is that a technology is ubiquitous, in cyberpunk, everyone has access to a virtual world of some sort that has genuine importance, whilst 'steampunk' is basically, "What if the Industrial Revolution had been more high-tech?" a genre also explored by Gibson, with help, in the book 'The Difference Engine.' In both Wells and Verne's works, however, the tech is isolated by belonging to aliens in War of the Worlds or to one man in The Time Machine or 20,000 Leagues. That being said, Wells, Verne and Shelley easily deserve the title of grandparents of Sci-Fi whose broad themes are still shaping popular culture to this day.

IF, Disney was smart and wanted to deliver something we would never expect... Daisy would die in this film and leave Luke to training someone to take her place. I doubt they'll go that rout because we already had out hearts ripped out in the last one with Han, but man, what a shock that would be, and set up for some type of 'return of the jedi' in the following one.
