What a drummer, and proving you can be a badass without a 40 piece kit.

The drum sound is phenomenal. And it's so nice to hear someone play with a SINGLE PEDAL for a change

Sonor drum really do sound better, too bad they are so expensive. You play with two hands. What's wrong with playing with two feet? Like a 5-string bass player, just because the low B is there doesn't mean you have to use it all the time but it's nice when you want it.

Self-taught (from a musical family) always trying new styles, creative, FUNKY, one of my all time favorites.... I was really lucky to run into him in a parking lot at the Modern Drummer festival many years ago. One of the very best.

We played this tune in college and it’s one of my favourite. The only issue I have is the drum solo that’s to close to the end. The tune arrangement and everything about the tune surly stands out from any drum solo, so to end it so abruptly is an injustice to the outstanding composition it is. More tune again at the end like 2 more minutes of explosive trombones, trumpets, and wild sax arrangements, play the drum solo earlier and shorter because it doesn’t help or improve the tune at all the way it is on many charts. That is to play a long solo and at the very end, no no there must be a makeover of this. In someone’s mind in the near future or in another future that’s far away.

Can someone describe his foot technique with the bass drum pedal. It looks like the slide technique but with a lot more motion along the pedal

What a lovely change to hear a kit that rings out with projection compared to that horrible flat sound that loads of drummers go for these days by covering their Tom's with ten rolls of gaffer tape which seems to have become an addiction .When I used to be a drummer we use to let our drums ring which makes them project when playing with lead bass and rhythm. You didn't even need a microphone on them . What happened to that.

His tom is placed close to the beater of the BD. Makes me wonder if my big toms are on the right side of the bass drum. Makes them pretty far and high to reach… maybe I should get myself a junior kit😅. Advice on the installation anyone?

Not sure what you are describing, but I will guess. On a four piece set, I play bass drum with my right foot, and the snare is sitting against the left side of my right thigh and the floor Tom is sitting against the right side of my right thigh. Long ago someone suggested that the height of the top of the floor tom should not be higher than the top of the throne. That worked for a while, but nowadays they top of the floor tom is about halfway up the thickness of my thigh.

Thanks for the description. Basically what I try to descripe is (no matter if a four or five (mine) piece shell kit) that your tom is mounted close to the batter of the bass drum instead of the opposite side (further) which makes it more comfortable to play. My two toms are big and mounted far from the batter of the bass drum so they are placed far and higher then my hands. So it makes me wonder if the piece that holds the toms is installed correctly on my bassdrum. I might try to reverse both skins of the BD so that the toms will be closer to me. Cuz the seat is so far from it all. Sorry if this sound all messy hahaha I try my best to write in another language but let’s face it : a real image would simplify it all. Too bad we cannot upload an image here on KZread chat.

Theyre all technocrats brother. More machine than human. No dynamics...no breathing...no feel...just mechanical prowess. Sad. All of this competetive ego playing has NOTHING at all to do with music.

Both technically excellent (notwithstanding that sloppy stick drop halfway through) and also boring. Another unnecessary and over-involved vanity drum solo where a nice tasty fill more in keeping with "Time Check" would have been much more appropriate and fun to listen to.
