Even better: we see Dio fails to land another hit on Jonathan after his first counterstrike out of sheer loss of pride, which also shapes his downfall.

The first time I saw this series, I thought Dio was going to get away with all of his shit since nobody in Episode 1 seemed to even like Jonathan aside from Erina. Then this scene happened and it was the best thing. Fucking Dio.

I think he meant he was going to try beating him in a fair fight first to destroy Jonathan's will power because Dio was so confident he would win even without cheating. He only pulls out the knife in the latter part of the fight because Jonathan was tougher than he anticipated.

Also, technically from a legal standpoint, fair and square can mean literally anything because Dio didn't actually specify what counted as "fair and square", so fair and square could've meant doing whatever it took to win. If anything, had he known how tough the Joestars were then the knife would've already been out in the beginning of the confrontation because Dio lived in the English ghetto.

There's.... Something.... Very satisfying about watching Jonathan beating up Dio and Dio getting whupped and crying FOR REALS that I find very.... arousing.... I mean, I like Dio. And Gentleman Jonathan too, very admirable.... IDK I just love this scene, it's both cute and fucking hilarious!

I just had an interesting thought about what happened after this fight. *Spoiler below* A short while before this fight, JoJo fed grapes to Danny (The dog). I looked into this to be sure. The exact reason isn't known yet but, it is well known that even a small amount of grapes or raisins can be lethally toxic to dogs. Danny might not have lived much longer anyway. Not that it justifies what Dio did.

It doesn't matter what version it is, sub, dub or manga, seeing Jonathan beat the living shit out of Dio is always cathartic to watch.

I remember this was the most satisfying scene in the series up to this point, and it only got better from here. Watching this again reminds me of how much jojo has changed over the years. I finished part 4 recently and it feels like a completely different world but the sentiment is still the same: the hero faces impossible odds and is forced to use strategy and clever tricks to pull one out from under the ruthless villains they face.

I thoroughly approve of the headbutt at 1:30. JJBA needs more of those.

Boingo is not willing to fight for me anymore. Though I suppose I could get my hands on his stand. Finding him would be an easy task. However I cannot bring myself to leave my mansion without knowing if Vanilla Ice vanquished the Joestar's crew. I do have faith in him, but I want to make sure they're dead. One way or another, Thoth's prediction are always true. I cannot change the future, destiny is sealed. Seeing the future will not provide me anything. Furthermore, I do not require a book to tell if I am going to defeat Jotaro and his group of pathetic friends. I'm far stronger than them. I am ensured that vanilla ice will get rid of them all with the powers I gave him.
