“Anime trying to get out of anime.” “I just want to be hired.” Lol, so many of us can relate to at least one of these.

I feel that if your "Anime" is really, really well done, you can get out and in easily. Takes a lot of anatomy understanding though. So there's hope, you can have your cake and eat it.
Her drawings are so clean it’s ridiculous. Those are drawings of a confident artist even though she talks like she’s not. I especially like her shading and understanding of light source.
that map-like page was amazing
The movement in the cartoony characters and the anatomy with the more realistic body structures is amazing! Sketch book like these inspire me to draw
I think Joie is too concerned about random strangers and relatives and what they say about her art. For some people, you either draw in a newspaper comic style, Disney, or anime. Even though she has her own unique, cartoonish style, it's sadly the type of style our aunts and uncles would look at and go "is that a anime?" Joie, if you're reading this, your art doesn't look like the anime style at all (not that anime is bad, but it doesn't fit into what would categorize something as anime art). Of course, if you aren't happy with your style, mold it to something that works better for you. But otherwise, your art looks great and you don't need to worry about that.

Now this is how you do constructive *as opposed to destructive* criticism✌👆
It's sad how ppl think cartoony is an acceptable form of art but anime is not..... Both aren't realistic but both are still art
I love how supportive he is to her. Sum art teachers make u feel like shit if ur work is remotely close to anime Or cartoons. ❤
All the pages were amazing. I gotta get to work on my sketching!
This sketchbook was absolutely amazing and it's become an instant favorite! Her sketchbook has so much variety and I love how clean her drawings are. Looking forward to seeing what she creates in the future!
That was wonderful! Thank you for sharing Joie. I especially love those dancers in blue. I think her love of drawing stuff quickly has paid off in the fluidity of her work.
There's such a great variety of mediums, styles, shapes and colors, it just never gets dull! Love the small characters as title pages of sections and the quick gesture shading in watercolor pencils is stunning. My idea flow is never this clean or organized so thanks for a new awesome reference!
Cool sketchbook, really nice drawings, some outright gorgeous stuff in there.
I haven't used crayola products to draw since my art class in eighth grade, so this really inspired me to use more crayola.
the fine line-art on the map-like page and fungi page are so stunning.. the dancing studies are also so pretty
Please, keep doing that more often, dude! You always present us wonderful arts. It's very pleasant to enjoy all these sketchbooks. Hungry for more.

Henrique Noronha vocoloid is so big that they hold hologram concerts in japan and hatsune miku one of the idols even opened for lady Gaga. They are anime idols. Their songs are very catchy and fun.

It wasn't a vocaloid character. They are from the music videos "Nonsense literature/ナンセンス文学" and "Dramaturgy/ドラマツルギー" by Eve. The artist is Mah, you can find them on twitter as @/mah_hirano. Their work is incredible, definitely check them out! The only relation they have to vocaloid is that Eve originally used Hatsune Miku's (I believe? not sure) voice for nonsense bungaku, before he reuploaded with his own voice. :D
THAT CHARACTER FROM THE ANIMATION IS FROM THAT E VE MUSIC VIDEO. I LITERALLY SCREAMED
I'm from Seattle Washington, too. (Around there)
FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST!!!
my goal in life is to have a sketchbook worthy of you to show even though i'll bever be in your classes lol
At 9:32 I lost my farts. MY KIDS. She is honestly great, I am living off this sketchbook. Edit: this art is just so good.

7:36 didn't even notice Mah's characters at first.
I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW THE YOKAI FROM EVE'S MUSIC VIDEO
Anyone knows this animation music video she's talking about?
ure such a good hype man mate ahha
"How are you" "ehhh.. hi" lel
7:43 I think that character is from a japanese song called Nonsense literature lol
joie i love you
CAN YOU PLEASE ASK HER IF SHE KNOWS THE JAPANESE BAND NAMED EVE! One of her sketches showed the character of that band
That girl (Joie i think her name is) looks like that other girl from star wars the last jedi
7:45 last I checked LaSt Dance and Bungaku nonsense weren't sung by a vocaloid haha
OMG she has the same name as me I never meet people with the same name as me. My sketchbooks are not as awesome as hers though
So refreshing to see a young person trying to break the anime syndrome
