Better late comment than not. I'm using joie steady before and when my son turn 4, i just purchase this Joie Elevate. The trick for easily loosing the harness is the same as joie steady : 1. Press the button, and feed the strap to the hole while pressing the button (do it about 10cm/4inch at a time, do not feed too much). 2. Release the button and now you can loosen the harness by pulling the harness 1 side then the other side. Hope this helps!

Why are car seats so complicated yo install

For the people complaining about this car seat, this has absolutely got to be user incompetence, because this seat assembly, installation and functionality is absolutely perfect. It’s a great car seat, super easy installation, holds firmly in place when correctly installed, super comfortable for the kids, head support is wonderful when they fall asleep on car journeys, easy to get in and out of. Harness is comfortable, easily adjustable using the correct technique, intentionally stiff to move to prevent harness slipping with movement of child. Overall, excellent car seat. People should refrain from making comments due to their frustration at installation or impatience at their inability to follow simple video instructions.

Can I ask what is the best technique to loosen the harness straps? As another comment says above, the straps don't loosen when pushing the button for me either........ Like 1 in 50 attempts it works....

I do agree with you regarding installation but I do have trouble adjusting the straps. It would be much appreciated if you could you let me know what is the correct technique to tighten & loosen the straps. Many thanks.

Doesn't tightly secure car seat. Very frustrating!

Like 1 in 50 attempts..... It also got the middle metal buckle trapped and I had to cut the base to get the buckle out , so I can't return it now it's cut.

Wanted to raise this issue as well. Luckily for me we are straight on to stage 2 so the harnesses are out, but they were literally immovable. I've used used 4 different car seats before and never had this issue. Absolutely unacceptable.

I can't attach the back to the base. It looks like there's a thin ridge of plastic in each base slot preventing the hooks on the back from going through. I'll take it back to Smyths and see what they say.

It turns out there's nothing wrong with it: To attach the back to the base lay them on the floor with the hooks in the slots. Then give each one a whack with the base of your hand to click it into place.

Doesn’t matter how hard you tighten the belt. It’s still wobbly af. Doesn’t seem safe

Don't Have Any Complaints

Absolute terrible child seat. It does not securely fit in your car. The seat moves so much its unreal. Definately would not put my child or anyone elses child in this!

This car seat has caused more frustration for my toddler grandson & both his parents than i cud ever have imagined...he screamed non stop because the harness was too tight over his crotch...looking for a family fracas, u will get one for the price of this car seat.

It adjusts, from underneath, take the buckle out and thread back through the slot further away. It's all in the instructions...

No help on extending straps. Totally a waste of money

I wouldnt recommend this car seat to anyone. It is very, very difficult to secure. Compare with the Joie spin 360, which is very secure and easy to install.
