Hello, thank you for the video! I want to ask you that is it possible or logical to perform this simulation in Abaqus Explicit? Thank you.

If I understood correctly Johnson and cook model can be used for high strain rate problems and hence you can use for explicit step such as crash simulations or explosions, etc.

nice video, by the way will you have the plan to develop a tutorial using a Johnson-Cook model by using ABAQUS User subroutine???

Hello, thank you for this video. I would like to ask that why don't you define the damage, failure parameters (d1, d2, d3, d4). I want to use J-C material model for my V bending springback process. Does it work? Should i define damage parameters (d1,d2,d3,d4).

It depends on material and process being modelled. I did touched base on this. May be check abaqus documentation for details on these parameters.

Hello, I’m a new starter of FEA/Abaqus, and I’m looking for the definition of viscoplastic material model, which I found many people used it to simulate material behavior in dynamic simulation. But I can’t find “viscoplastic” option in Abaqus material module. Is the material model you show in second section(elastic + plastic data with different strain rate) what people call viscoplastic? Thank you!

Yes rate dependent, strain rate dependent, Viscoplastic are same

Thanks for the comment. Its just experience and as explained in the video A, B and n control certain parts of the curve. So start fitting slowest strain rate curve and then play with strain rate based parameters. All the best.

Hello where is the johnson cook strain rate? C and epsilondotzero is defined. But Epsilondot isn't defined. For example, for 1000 s^-1 strain rate and 1 s^-1(epsilondotzero) in rate dependence C and epsilondotzero is defined. epsilondotzero equals to 1. But where is the strain rate for johnson cook ?

@@Professor3MEC thank you for your comment but i mean if referance strain rate is zero and temperature effect is ignored we define the parameters A B n C strain rate and referance strain rate result of this the flow stress is defined. But in abaqus we cant define strain rate. How abaqus define strain rate? Since we dont write strain rate. Does abaqus interpolate between strain rates and solve it according to this interpolation? In other finite element programs such as ls dyna and deform 3d i couldnt find strain rate parameter too

If you are asking about strain rate in fe model then that is based on boundary conditions and applied loading.
