sir i hope you are fine i am a student of mechanical engineering i have done few simulations during my studies but i face the problem during setting the step time. every time i randomly selected the step time for the simulation but i face the time increment error. sir can you please tell me how to exactly the set the step time to avoid this error
Hi, I am interested in the heating and cooling cycle to simulate shape recovery. May I know how I can achieve that?
*** Error:ABAQUS/Standard rank 0 failed to allocate memory *** ERROR CATEGORY: ASSEMBLY I am getting this error, what could be the reason? My time increments are very small 1e-5, and the odb file till now is taking 55gb disk space. could this error mean that I require to run this analysis on a machine with more physical memory?
How to find displacement at failure for damage evolution for Johnson cook model
one vedio LPBF on comsol multiphysics software
Can you please make a video for the damage in FGM using UMAT?
Thank you very much. Your videos are always the best, and I can't wait for the next video.
can you explain, why you use 'Ductile Damage Model' and not 'Johnson-Cook damage model'???
Awesome, thank you very much for your efforts. Please can you make a video for damage in the FGM using UMAT
Can CPFEM be used with a surface-surface contact pair or should we use 3D contact? if yes what should be the appropriate timestep for it? A paper "Comparison of the implicit and explicit finite element methods using crystal plasticity" By Harewood states convergence is not achieved when using Contact Pairs with CPFEM model.
Wonderful tutorial sir ! Just out of curiosity , at last step what is the reason behind multiplying step increment time with 50 MPa and calling it as failure pressure.
Many thanks for uploading this video.
Thanks for your useful tutorials. I can't find any tutorial about UEPACTIVATIONVOL Abaqus subroutine anywhere, could you make a video about it?
Hi, in abaqus in CP the results like stress are displayed in the local coordinate system of each point. Do you know field lf stress in the gui are then in the global coordinate system
I think they are in global market f I understood your question correctly. For local variables like please see sdv variables.
@@Professor3MEC ok then the gui display them in the global coordinate system. Because in the ODB they are in the local that s for sure
Why you did not use the composite lay up?
It was long time ago but I think idea was to show delamination and hence the approach.
I think something might be missing in the tutorial sequence. I have tried to reproduce it in Abaqus 2020 and 2023 but there is always an error and the simulation does not even start. I have tried different solvers such as Riks, and Coupled temp-displacement (both in steady-state and transient). I have tried elements B31, B31H, PIPE31 and PIPE31H with no results at all.... What version are you using to run these simulations? I thik there might be a bug in these Abaqus versions...
I tried with 2023 as well and it works, I will try to find out which version I had at that time. Thanks
If you send me your file I can have a quick check
My plasticity model works for time step 1*10^-6, when i run my nanoindentation simulation using that material, the computation time is insanely large (100+ days), what can I do to reduce it?
it is explicit or implicit analysis? for explicit you may try mass scaling while keeping any eye on total energy and kinetic energy, as later shouldn't be significant. For standard analysis try stabilisation, and also contact controls and stabilisation options.
can the above analysis be done by ansys
I think Ansys already have AM modules. But I haven't used it for a long time so not sure. Apologies.
Sir,In Abaqus, I'm performing an explicit coupled temperature-displacement analysis. In my analysis it requires normalizing of time. The author of the paper says "We normalized time along with the normalization of thermal conductivity with its reciprocal in order to bring down the computational cost of simulations. The obtained solution using normalized time was again converted back to normal time accordingly " . Sir, How can I return to regular time in Abaqus after normalizing? My thermal conductivity is 10 and my step time is 36000 seconds according to the paper. Does my analysis require me to inverse these values in order to normalize? Is this the correct way? Should I additionally normalize the time that I utilized as a tabular input time(0-36000 sec) for my boundary condition if I do this?. I would be very grateful if you just share your thought regarding my query.
Its not clear to me how they have normalised, as normalising means with some specific quantity. I can better comment after looking at the paper you have mentioned. Thanks
Thank you professor! Your manual is very helpful. But I got a problem, when I simulated a similar task some elements with low temperature (around 3-10 Kelvins) occured during analysis. This problem aborted my analysis. What can cause this? Thank you
did you assign initial temperature in the model definition?
Bro warning, Displacement increment for contact is too big, how to slove
try changing boundary conditions, also check materials properties, sometime that can cause such issues.
Please can you make a video for the damage in FGMs using UMAT
Please can you make a video for the damage in FGMs using UMAT
no promises but will try as writing UMAt is quite a bit of time investment.
AI probably isn't going to replace CAE analysts anytime soon unlike copywriters and graphic designers
THANK YOU SIR FOR THIS VERY INTERESTING VIDEO, SIR I HAVE ONE QUESTION , i have modeld hollow sphere , then i' applied radial displcement at inner surface ,when i submit the job i get error , can help me please to solve this error , pleaes sir can you make make video for this problem
sure, please send me the file and i will have alook and create a video. www.professor3mec.com
@@Professor3MEC sir i have send you my model to email
I found this video very useful. Thank you for uploading it. I have to simulate nanoindentation experiment, I am trying to match laod displacement curve of simulation and that of experiment, but in vain. How can I find tangent modulus and yield strength of my film? I have elastic modulus (160GPa) and hardness (7Gpa)? 16:08
Glad you find it helpful. I have another video on that if you could please have a look on the channel?
You know what? I am a regular viewer of your KZread Channel. I have seen all your videos and your content qualities are very good. I learned lots of things from you. Your channel has great quality contents but still it is not delivering its right audiences due to SEO problems. You should focus on your SEO so that You can get a big fanbase. Thanks.
Sir, can you please make a video how to model Multiwell horizontal HYDRAULIC fracturing using Abaqus XFEM
If you could send me a description with parameters then I can give it a try. For fracture using XFEM I have already created a few tutorials
@@Professor3MEC Sir I’ve sent you an email; please check it.
Hi Professor, can I contact you in private? Please provide me with the contact information. Thank you
[email protected]
Please provide the link of Excel data I am unable to do that😢
I will have a look for it. Did you try downloading the files from www.professor3mec.com ? It may be there already?
Your blurb at the bottom left of the screen is very uncomfortable, distracting and disturbing.
I got rid of them recently 🙏🏻 apologies for any inconveniences
Yeah I got it, thank you! Can you share your mail so that I can converse further.
You may contact through www.professor3mec.com
I m research scholar and I need your help in my research work
sure how can i help?
Hi sir
Good video! What if I have a 3D structure with different sections along the Z-direction? How can I plot the pressure?
you can write a short python sript or abaqus cae mavro to automate
@@Professor3MEC thanks for the answer! I guess it is too much to ask for a video? 🥹
what is the version of abaqus you used here. thankyou.
can we change the tool path as per our wish, or it can be done only with straight lines
@@kabilaank3862 I can't recall the version but most probably 2021 or later. Yes tool path you can have as you want.
I want to generate a stress-strain curve in this model. Could you please do me a favor and explain it to me?
sure, do you mean contour plots?
@@Professor3MEC no, XY plot so I can generate the stress-strain curve
Hello Prof, Please do you have a tutorial for modeling of automobile tyres?
What sort of modelling do you want? Just dynamic modelling or friction or wear?
@@Professor3MEC dynamic modelling please. Thanks for your prompt response.
Hello Prof. I don't know if you have the dynamic modeling video. Kind regards
My J integral values and the J integral estimated from Ks is coming very different, is it normal? what is the difference between the two?
Are you using elastic plastic material? As for linear elastic solutions both should be approx. same.
i wanna know about uhard model . how can i?
Uhard is much simpler than UMAT. As it only requires slope of stress strain curves, i.e. derivatives w.r.t. plastic strains.
Thank you for the tutorial; it's very helpful. I want to modify the fall cone test, which is somewhat similar to the nanoindentation test. However, in this test, the cone penetrates the sample solely under its own weight without any additional applied load. The problem with my simulation arises when the angle of the cone is reduced (e.g., 15 degrees as half of 30). In these cases, the cone does not make contact with the sample and seems to penetrate without resistance. Conversely, with a larger angle (like 45 degrees), this problem does not occur. Can you guide me on how to solve this issue? I would be grateful if you could provide a way to contact you, so I could show you figures for a clearer understanding of what I am talking about. Thank you very much in advance
you can contact me through www.professor3mec.com.
May I ask whether we can use it for plane stress?
plane stress and plane strain require different arrays of stresses and strains so better check ABAQUS documentation.
Sir please make a same type of video on selective laser melting simulation
I will do if I get some time in near future. Thanks.
Sir video is very good, kindly i request to you please give the dflux subroutine code of first section of this video
Hi Dr. I sent you an email to get in touch. Please respond. Alex Rob
Amazing video. In the context of Crystal Plasticity, is the trial stress and yield surface still applicable?
Not really.
Very useful series!☺️
Big like Thank you for your awesome. We look forward to next videos on UMAT and damage.
i just want to know, how to get the data of yield stress and n (strain hardening exponent) while unloading time?
Sorry for delay in replying. Did you already find the answer to it?
Part 7 is messing
it should be there.
