Johnny Winter 2008 - Red House

Музыка

Red House (Jimi Hendrix)
Well there's a red house over yonder
That's where my baby stays
Lord there's a red house over yonder
Oh that's where my baby stays
I ain't been home to see my baby
In ninety-nine and one half days
Wait a minute, something wrong here
My key won't unlock this door
Wait a minute, something wrong here
Lord have mercy this
key won't unlock this door
(something wrong here)
I gotta bad, bad feeling
My baby don't live here no more
(That's ok, I still got my guitar...look out!)
Well I might as well look back over yonder
Way back up over the hill
Lord I might as well go back over yonder
Way back yonder across the hill
Even though my baby don't love me no more
I know her sister will

I just watched this again. He starts kinda shaky, but he warms up quickly and then proceeds to show why he's one of the best blues guitarists to ever live. Yeah, he's still got guitar chops. Ain't no denying that!

My personal favourite is the album "Capatured Live" from 1975/76. He's not really "there" now, as he was then... but everyone gets older, and he's still worth all respect.

To all those arm chair generals who posted negitive comments about Johnny Winter. It's commical that people who on their best day can't even come close to achieving what one of the greatest bluesmen ever does on his worst day act like they are can do better. Those who can do, and losers who can't take cheap shots from the sidelines. Better to say nothing than to show the world your stupidity.

@Fr3etd4nc3r Johnny has health problems that force him to sit and play, he's no spring chicken for sure. BB has no problems playing sitting down, several others have too. it shouldn't make any difference. A great guitarist is a great guitarist, standing, sitting, jumping up and down. As long as his fingers still fly over the fretboard, that's the main thing.

@BlackCatCombo I don't care if he lays down as long as he plays like this. Jeff Healey sat down too, you gonna criticize him too? I can't play like they can and neither can you, so are you there to see a decent guitarist standing or a legend regardless of whether he stands or sits? Several times I saw Chet Atkins, he was sitting too. So was Jerry Reed. They were two of the best this world has ever seen. What difference does it make to their playing? NONE! Also, he's not R&R, but blues. 40 years+

Oh really ... hmmm maybe you should have heard the YOUNG JW playing this song 40 years ago live .. and Be Careful With the Fool .. and It's My Own Fault live .. and Meantown Blues live .. and please do comeback and say again that he is a lesser BLUES guitarist than JH or SRV ..

Johnny Winter has always been a great musician!! But, seriously, I know noone else whos in such a bad condition, even Jerry Lee Lewis does not come close to this with his 74!! Hats off for the voice and the last 30 years of great rock'n'roll, but please leave the stage to those who can stand straight yet!!

He don't play rock and roll. He's a blues man who produced Muddy Water in Muddy's later years. Anybody can play rock and roll dummy.

I have to agree, the tone is downright strange to me. I can see he's a good player though.

sounds like a fender, plays like a gibson. his words. probably the shorter scale length is what was appealing to him

Size and weight probably too. Minimalist body and no headstock greatly reduce weight. The small body makes it easier to play sitting down. Erlewine is a quality guitar maker on the outskirts of Austin.

@@georgestevens1502 I know, his brother used to run the allmusic site and was in Iggy Pop's first band. Dan Erlewine also designed Albert King's iconic lefty V with the inlays that read his name
