Stelilathehippogriff The Slicers are the most infamous enemies in the Sonic the Hedgehog Series. They are robotic mantises that attack by launching their blades at you. Their appearance in Sonic 2 is mainly what earned them their infamy as they were common throughout Metropolis Zone and cheaply placed. Their attacks are also very difficult to avoid, which adds to their infamy. Granted their later incarnates aren’t as annoying, but everyone seems to detest them. Johnny especially hates them and I honestly don’t blame him.

Stelilathehippogriff Johnny actually voices his hatred of them in his Sonic 2 review, and I’m prepared to say that he’s not exaggerating. Unless you’re the type of person who can do no-hit runs in sonic games and know the mechanics and other aspects of the game like the back of your hand, you’re pretty much guaranteed to get hit by at least one Slicer

"$20 is a high asking price for indie games." But it's an extremely low asking price for games in general.

What? The original Shantae has a great soundtrack! Zombie Town is so good. Bandit Town, Labyrinth, the night theme, so many good tracks.

I honestly really liked the dancing mechanic in the first game. That game has great animation and the way the music changes when you perform each move is very satisfying. I sometimes stopped to dance for a bit just for the fun of it.

Apparently (as I found out myself then googled up) the *Shantae GBC* game has a bug in that it can outright _crash_ (to a blue screen) when collecting a Warp Squid. Yeah, that also deletes your save file. But hey, I'm not as frustrated with losing my save as I made a 'Restore Point' when I was in Oasis town, before I was in the labyrinth for an hour and corrupted my save file. ... ...Thank god for that Restore Point...

It has such a small chance to happen though, there's practically no information on that Warp Squid bug. I only found one review (I think on GameFAQs) that mentioned it. That I could find atleast. And that was a review for the original cart if I'm not incorrect, meaning everyone that played this had to deal with this. Aware or not.

I love how after finding out there were basically Sonic 2 Slicers in the game and he said "What's next, Metroid's in Kirby?!?!??!" And then eventually reviewed the Kirby games and found out there are Metroid's in one of the games 🤣

Imagine if she's in smash? She could use her items and pirate gear as attacks and use her transformations as a Final Smash and victory poses.

***** One of her victory poses should be based on when she defeats a boss and spins around in the air, her normal attacks could take a lot of inspiration from the physical attacks from the first game, her specials could be a combination of her transformations and pirate gear, her crouch and crawl animations could be exactly like the ones in the games, her taunts could be some dance poses from the first game... Can you really believe that it's been 20 years since the first Shantae game was released on the GameBoy Color? Time sure does fly.

I did not know about these amazing games back then, but your video has gotten me to playing Riskys Revenge, which in turn, got me into the Shantae series. Once again, thank you so much Johnny! WayForward is the example of a company that knows what it's doing as a company that pushes its own IPs from scratch - particularily with Pirate's Curse and their games get better over time because they garner more attention/support and mechanically improve. I personally want Shantae and other WayForward series to reach the beloved attention of more popular franchises.

This series, I think is underrated and deserves more love. Shantae is awesome.

Johnny’s criticisms are valid but they’re only his own. People can fully disagree with them and also be valid. I think these games are masterpieces and if you disagree fine, but don’t pretentiously try to tell me I’m wrong for having that opinion.

As soon as John was about to point at the top of the screen, it finally clicked in my head. TITLES USED TO BE ABOVE THE VIDEOS. I've been on youtube for YEARS and ALWAYS noticed whenever there was a change, but I NEVER even NOTICED THAT! Holy fuck am I late to the party on that one.

Hmmm, I remember last year SomecallmeJohnny that you were loving Risky's Revenge and you were pretty pumped for Pirate's Curse. I guess after sinking your teeth in, you weren't completely in-love with it anymore? xD Just an observation I noticed. But it seems though you still enjoyed the first two games I think haha. Pirate's Curse seems a lot more up my alley with how streamlined it is, despite loving the metroid-vania the first game had (seriously though I had no idea where to go for the first two hours haha); so I'm still overly excited 1/2 Genie Hero is coming along (: But still, great video as usual! I love this series. They're something I wish I could've played at a younger age. Im happy to say that all 3 games are the type that I would repurchase if I had to.

Funny story: When I was younger, I went to Toys R Us (rest in peace local amiibo church) and we went to the 3DS section to pick out a new game. I saw a video about Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, so I wanted to get that. And my mom saw this game that was rated T mind you, and thought the girls on the cover were strippers so we ended up leaving with Kirby: Planet Robobot instead of the game I actually wanted to play.
