I am an old-school Rock guitarist. I got my chop's studying Ritchie Blackmore ,Eddie Van Halen .. Jimmy Page...etc. ... never a fan of country although I did like some rockabilly... I have to say I get so much pleasure and excitement watching Johnny Hiland Jam. he is just as talented and intuitive as any guitar player I have ever admired. He has inspired me to step outside of my box and try something different. I fail miserably most of the time but the journey certainly is fun

Johnny's good!! But I think you all are going a bit overboard with the comparisons to Brent Mason. Brent's contribution to country music from the mid 80's on into the 2000's is unsurpassed. He took it one step further with his sound, style, and technique. I really don't don't see how anybody could ever top it. Though with all that praise, of course "he stands on the shoulders of giants"
