I'd still say it's booth Bervinski and Depp that carried the movies. If you take Jack out of 1-3 it wouldnt be half as entertaining. 4-5 were also only watchable because of Depp. So while Jack isnt the "Main Character" of the plotts, he is the driving force and a main source of entertaiment.

Captain Jack Sparrow has won the public since Curse of the Black Pearl. When the sequel came out, EVERYONE talked about Johnny Depps performance and how much they love the character. People dressed like him. Kids wore pirate costumes and had sword fights in the lobby. Quotes were thrown left and right that filled the air with enthusiasm for the next movie. If you were around then, Captain Jack Sparrow was and still is a household name. The man is untouchable.

Johnny's fans stand behind him. We love him!!!!

Johnny Depp made The Pirates of the Caribbean what it is- If Johnny Depp is not in pirates of the Caribbean 6-my family will not be watching it. I'm not trying to be rude or cynical in any aspect. I just believe wholeheartedly that creating a pirates of the Caribbean without Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow will be pointless. It would be a detrimental situation for Disney to put the money out for the movie because it would not generate the revenue they're seeking.

I boycotted it around 30 minutes into the 3rd one. Not even Disney has the money to pay me enough to watch Pirates of the Carribean 6 whether it stars Johnny Depp or the second coming of Christ. I wouldn't intentionally subject anyone who has any taste to such treatment. That's inhumane.

@@cor144 It's gotten stale and the writing keeps getting worse. The last installment Dead Men Tell No Tales was the lowest-grossing of the series in the US (though it still made money overseas esp Asia). Disney is working on spinoffs.

Apparently they’d rather ruin the whole Pirates of the Caribbean franchise than apologize to him. Which is exactly what they’re doing! I read somewhere that Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) is supposed to play him 🤣. I can’t imagine how that would be. Definitely a mismatch if I’ve ever seen one!
