I miss the days of surf films like this making me feel like I wanted to run through a wall after watching it.

I remember him as a grom for the stories in surf magazines for mostly punching out people in the water (even Jodie Cooper) but didn't even realise the big man totally shredded! Excellent footage.
He served so hard you can actually hear his board clap on the water as he drove down the wave.
Hey boys - watching this certainly brings back memories. Nice follow-cam stuff Larry... way before GoPro's! Not an easy task with the rigs we used to use. I haven't seen Johnny Boy since these days. Glad to hear he's doin okay.

Haha. I will always remember him yelling at me at Rocky Point in the 80's when I was a kid- I was just cruising down the line on a little left and he shouts at me, "DO SOMETHING!" The next wave I cutback in front of him and I guess the spray hit him and he gave me stink eye, but he was cool about it. I wasn't trying to spray him.

This is the same fool that punched a girl in the face at makaha. Yeah real regulator and you guys talk him up like he is a stand up guy. Jonny Boy along with half of Hawaii needs to take the asphalt temperature challenge.

Johnny Boy is alive and well living in Hawaii. Surfing a lot and looking top shape. He is a happy father and grandpa but still has the fire and power so don't be surprised if you see him get some sick waves this year. Thanks for asking. Aloha Warrior 🤙
