Wild. I’m a middle aged man and John Smith has been a wrestling fixture my whole life as a wrestler. Class act and legend.

Smith went out like a boss. Pure class. It occurs to me that this whole thing with DT to OK State is going to impact Iowa way more than it does PSU. Can you imagine the pressure that Brands will be under if OK State finishes ahead of Iowa this coming season or next?

This is such a great display of the kind of man Coach Smith is. Clearly not happy with the decision and feels for his guys but keeps it classy and positive. Easy to read between the lines tho.

My interpretation is that he had his doubts before the press conference, but not after. He still seems shell-shocked by the left turn, but knows it was the right decision. But however he felt , he showed nothing but class as usual.

OSU been the standard for USA wrestling for over 100 years! This is the first Olympics since 1924 that doesn't have a Cowboy on the team. Chew on that for a minute.... Yeah, the entire wrestling world was watching who the new coach would be

John Smith is a legend. Let’s just get that out of the way, coach/wrestler. You can tell he wants nothing less than the best for OSU. His, eyes/ body language and disposition tell a story that cannot be denied. He is not behind the decision to bring in David Taylor as his successor. Before you come after me, prove me wrong.

Hope coach stays visible around the sport in some capacity. Will be weird having someone in charge around here who isn't home-grown.

I’m sure it’s because of Chris and Coleman. Chris has been in that room since he was a little kid through College and as a Coach. To be out after 30+ years has to be tough for him to watch. I only wish Coleman would have stayed at NC and only agreed to come over if there was a contract in place guaranteeing him the Head Coaching position at OSU. That’s a hard lesson he’s going to learn. Hopefully both guys land great jobs. Also it would be nice if OSU paid them their salaries for next year giving them time to get something.
