Listened to Petra through my teen years and was inspired and blessed. Thank you, John Schlitt for singing about great American values: freedom and faith in God, the One who made the freedom possible.

I saw Petra in 1999 in Ogallala NE. What a blessing. John’s story is an inspiration. Godbless their work!

I hoe you don't mind but when I sing along I sing "I am Australian", our flag is red white and blue too. What a timely song for our times. Good to know who is really in control. What a great song John. What an anthem.

Hey John This is a great song. I noticed that many people are bashing this song as political propaganda. All I got to say is that is a good sign that you are doing something right. It is being treated the same way many other songs that bring up God and our country eg God Bless the USA. You are doing great work for God.

When America rises up and stands on the biblical foundations that made it great, it stands as a beacon of light for the world. (and this is coming from an Australian!) I am also a fan of Petra and their music has ministered to me over the years. Many years. I just want to raise the point that the only thing that can save us is Jesus The Christ, and without being free in Him, we are slaves, regardless of the state of our world or country. We need to repent, we need to pray, and we must live Jesus first, everything else second.

Beyond Belief?

I think a lot of you mean well, but you guys are really off base on this one. John is NOT putting these figures on pedestals, but rather he was using their quotes for the video. And if you guys think that John is just being political, you gotta listen to the single off this album "Hope That Saves The World" that talks about how God is our only hope, not politicians.

@bradley4808 I just tweeted Huckabee about that, told him to check out the vid on KZread. His viewers would dig this song, and seeing Huck play while John sings would be beastly! I wish Huck was running, I just don't like Romney...didn't like him 4 years ago either.

It is probably because it really is Jay Sekulow.

As cool as "the american dream" or whatever seems, and as big a fan as I am of John Schlitt, I do wish the Patriotic American Christian would open his/her eyes and see the impact that their so called "faith and freedom" have had on other countries, such as mine. I'm a Christian and I believe that the 'hand of God" is no pretext for trashing the rest of the world and playing big brother.

I have followed Petra for years, but I'm surprised to hear this!! no intervention of your nation in other countries, that in the name of freedom have broken pate nations and damaged American veterans. I'm a fan of Petra and John but this song and its message are disappointing. Our God is a God of peace. The countless wars that broke out in the name of "freedom" were not the purpose of Jesus.
