    I respect John so much for not using auto tune. His voice has aged gracefully and has remained natural. The fact that he can sing like this is impressive. Using auto tune is not impressive at all.

    This is a guy giving it all. He gave his voice, literally to this song for 40 years and it's taken it's toll. Yet he continues to gift fans this song. I appreciated and enjoyed it.

    It's always great to see the original artist doing his/her songs regardless of age. Gorden Lightfoot is 82 and touring. Saw him when he was 78 and though he changes up the arrangement a little to make it easier on him it is awesome to see him performing... Sammy Hager is 73 and he doesn't disappoint and sounds better then most younger artists....

    Saw him in 85 when i was 11......he is my hero. Its amazing that he's singing this for you new gen. Thats what real musicians do!!!!!!!

    This song really motivated me when I was in rehab recovering from foot surgeries. Both feet from diabetes. Now I walk perfect

    This song was released in 1985, so John Parr has been singing this song since then. I think his performance was just as good now, as it was, then. I sing this in karaoke, so I'm waiting for bars to open again, after the Covid-19 restriction to be lifted... ---Lee

    His voice has almost gone but I don't blame him, he used to sing it perfectly but time takes a toll on all of us, anyone who was around when this song came out can say they were better back then in many ways too, myself included.

    I would say this is even better than the original, slightly lower highlights the hoarse tone to his voice a sound I absoloutly love.

    ​@@lorenmorgan1931 Yeah, unfortunately, his voice just seems exhausted (probably from having sung this song so many times!), BUT...I do give him props for at least not using auto-tune or lip syncing to a vocal track like so many "legacy" rock stars do today...not sure about his guitar or the other instruments backing him here, but Parr's vocals at least do seem to be live.

    Well he is 68. He was 32 when he recorded the song originally. He’s been singing it for 36 years, I think he did a fine job considering. I remember when the song came out back in 85.

    He's from my town in England, and was lucky enough to meet him a few times when I was in school. He was a really good friend of my music teacher and they collaborated on a charity single for us to sing, but unfortunately it didn't even make the top 100 in the uk charts.

    He beats the ass off so-called artists like Amy Winehouse, God rest her. She wasn't even in the same league as this legend. So they had to drop key a bit because his voice has changed? Who cares? He's still a better singer than much of the auto tuned shit these days.

    @@JLongbow I don’t own any of her records, but she incorporates, Soul, Jazz, Motown, and many other styles. Parr incorporates, cheddar,Brie and Stilton. Cheesey but I like it sometimes. Too much cheese is bad for you though.

    Wow! I'm amazed by how torched his voice is. This is surprisingly bad...and this is already lowered significantly. He STILL can't do it. The apologists in here need to get real. There are plenty of other singers his age who could have done this without the awful pitch issues he has. On the plus side, he looks good for his age; just wish he sounded even okay. Ouch...
