I really hate it that you do this song with such emotion. 50 years ago on a sandy beach in Florida I met the girl I wanted to spend forever with. We were both young and reality forced me to enlist in the Army. I did it all. Infantry, Airborne Paratrooper, Special Forces. Combat action. We drifted apart and she left me for another guy. When I came home she was gone. I keep moving but I'm empty inside. This song is the dagger in my heart and you killed it. Great cover to move me like you did. I'm so glad we don't live forever. Sunrise on the beach is ...... What can I say ? Quiet except for the whispering wind. 🌎

This....might be the best cover ever of this song. Actually, it definitely is. Incredible.

I'm not a country fan and stumbled across this by accident. I have heard many covers of this song, and this one is really, really good. Probably the best I've heard. It really captures a sadness and melancholy in the lyrics, the end of summer. The tempo and humble production values of this version is just perfect.

This the saddest song I've ever heard. I remember when the 1984 Don Henley version came out. I didn't realize how sad this song was until John covered it. It's really sad. There is hope in it but I'm not sure how much.
