    very beautiful. I first heard of you through your brother Terry. I first saw him at Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas in the late 70s. This music is as new and fresh as it was when I first heard it. Isn't that just like God. And just when I needed it. Thank you. God bless.

    This is great. It's not like other Christian rock. It's way beyond. You can't always make classics, but he has made so many. Even some of his quiet ones have power to it in a subtle way like "The Empty canvas" and ones that speak to your life (like penitential psalms, esp. big for a melancholic) and are words from the Bible. If any are like him, I want to know!

    Awesome! That's really tough to play. The changes are so fast and you have to make it flow. He does an amazing job of recreating this off the record. Beautiful song lyrically and musically.

    I really like this! A great album is "The Lover and the Beloved", but you would probably have to order it. They are moving songs mostly from the writings of Saints, John of the Cross and Theresa of Avila. The first poem-song was a Song of Songs-like romance song to Jesus from the Bride of Christ, the Catholic Church (members of which these writers were), which came from the side of the new and wholly holy Adam, on Pentecost.

    This is beautiful. Great guitar playing. I love the music of John Michael Talbot. Can you tell me where I could buy some of his CDS. I sing in Lourdes with a group I am involved with who take the sick to Lourdes every year and would love to sing many of John Michael Talbot's hymns.

    Try a CD called Quiet Reflections (1987). This was also a video that JMT made. Before or over certain songs, JMT reads appropriate passages. Other recommendations I have are: Hiding Place (1990), Come to the Quiet (1980), and The Lover and the Beloved (1989).

    But different groups lay claim to the teachings of the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, yes, anyone can talk to God. The devil can talk to anyone as well and that's how Catholics who scandalized those who listened to the devil and started new Christian faiths were started. I was responding to the one who said the Bible is all there is to Christianity. The Church was given the keys to interpret it. This goes for certain schismatic "Catholic traditionalists" as well

  • @fool1shmortal
    @fool1shmortal16 жыл бұрын

    Actually, it's private interpretations that spawned many denominations. If everyone reads into it how they want or think they understand it, how can God talk to His people. The answer: the Church Christ set up in the upper room with those to whom he gave authority--the holders of the truth before and still after the Bible was compiled, according to the Bible.

    The catholic church wasn't really born until the early christians got in bed with power in the form of Constantine.

  • @fool1shmortal
    @fool1shmortal16 жыл бұрын

    The gates of hell cannot prevail against his Church, as Jesus said when establishing his Church--the only Christian one around then. That can only mean the opposite is true for any other church and the counter-biblical allowance of divorce and remarriage illustrates it. That's not to say it should be stuffed down anyone's throats, but a correction was in order.

  • @fool1shmortal

    If it were sooner than Pentecost, some Catholic correct me. His death could have been the sleep of Adam, but the birthday f the Church is Pentecost, I believe.

  • @d3c2p1

    I agree that it shouldn't be 'stuffed down peoples' throats,' but at the same time, I think christians should still be a little more outspoken in this world. We shouldn't be so lax in letting the world run its course and even mingling with it in some ways. Problem being that the media will either paint christians as radical fundamentalists or hypocrites, or archaic, etc. world of sin is against the kingdom of God.

    I doubt that John Michael makes a distiction between being Catholic and being Christian. They are the same to him. To say "Catholic Christian" is redundant.
