John Martyn - Bless the Weather

Музыка

From the Collegiate Theatre London, 10 January 1978. The show was broadcast on the old grey whistle test and features on the BBC DVD but this performance came after the final credits rolled. It may have been shown at a later date but I don't know. This is from the same show as the fabulous small hours video uploaded by shiveringgoat.

One thing I loved about John Martyn was the sheer pleasure he himself seemed to take in the music he played, the smiles and giggles when he played something even he seemed to be in awe of, just like we were... The more I watch him on here the more and more I wish I had taken that chance to see him when I could've...

Not many people can keep 2 chords going for a whole song like John. i guess it's in the textures he creates with his SUPERB voice.hail JM we love you and miss the days when music wasn't screwed for money in the 1st and last and all the in between instances.

The one and only. Standing knee-deep in mud, at Glastonbury in 1984, I heard him play. 'Solid Air' for the first time, and was blown away. Saw him many times after that (the 'secret' gig in Preston, just him and John Giblin, was probably my favourite). Still hard to believe he's gone.

Super job. Saw him a couple of months ago in Dublin. So sad to see him wheeled on stage in a wheelchair after he lost his leg. But I'm happy to report he was in great form and interacted with the audience as only he can, and was playing at his best again.
