On this very day, I am learning of John Martyn for the first time. Watching this feeling like where have I been all my life? How could I not have known? 🎶

This has to be the greatest grieving love song ever, and just for good measure one of the great guitar solos of all time as well. John you are always missed but never forgotten.

just when you think you've heard a man pour out every bit of raw emotion he can'he then does the same with a unbelievable guitar solo.

The first time i Saw John playing was about 86 when he released sapphire. I wasnt very familiar with his music at that time ,but from the first note i said what the f**** is this and i will never forget when he played Hurt in your heart screaming wild his eyes filling up, there was a wave of emotion that i will never forget . Dark, macabre even. Still the best gig i was ever at.

@@kathleenprice3388 Our relationship did not survive Kathleen. I struggled with dealing with the anger issues she had but, she would not admit to none of my concerns or suggestions for counselling .... I found that I was in love with a narcissist & narcissists will never claim any responsibility for shortcomings they may have. We do speak & she does want to rekindle Our relationship but until she receives help I cannot allow myself to be abused again ,,, thanks for your concern xo

This gets me every time I watch it or hear it (and I've been a fan since I bought 'Grace & Danger' in 1980. I can't think of any other guy who ever showed this much emotion in a song. I always have to follow-up with 'May you never' just to lighten the heart a little.

That's possibly the most remarkable description of this video I've ever heard. It's so true. John Martyn truely was an incredible human being and I wish I could thank him for what he's given us.

When that hurt in your heart has gone; When that hurt in your heart has gone When that hurt in your heart has gone Give me a call Darling, that's all that you have to do Show me a sign; A word or a line One stitch in time To save this poor heart From breaking When that hurt in your heart has gone; When that hurt in your heart has gone When that hurt in your heart has gone I'll still be your friend Right to the end of forever And further still This hurting will mend And I hope you'll remember all the time; Hope you'll remember every line Hope you'll remember All the love, all the love, all the love When that hurt in your heart has gone; When that hurt in your heart has gone When that hurt in your heart has gone Just say my name You don't have to say it loud; I'll still feel the same And I'll still be true Waiting for you To come sailing through 'Cause you know you can When that hurt in your heart has gone; When that hurt in your heart has gone When that hurt in your heart has gone Give me a call...

Yes, it's on Grace & Danger but not this version. It's on the VHS tape 'John Martyn In Vision 1973-1981'. I bought it on Amazon specifically for this and another incredible live performance of Inside Out - only to find that, although the rest of the tape was fine, these last 2 tracks were of such appalling quality that I was gutted. So thank you Waggonerslad for posting such a wonderful performance on KZread. And to anyone else who might buy the VHS & get it converted, my advice is: don't.
