John Lennox: Science DOESN'T Explain What You Think It Does (Brilliant Insights!)

Oxford mathematician and apologist John Lennox is joined by Samuel Marusca and Justin Brierley at the Practical Wisdom Conference in London to discuss faith in the age of science. John Lennox challenges conventional beliefs about science's explanatory scope, and exposes that science doesn't even explain what you think it does.
Lennox delves into the assertions of Richard Dawkins and Stephen Hawking, who propose that the Universe originated from nothing, presenting a compelling case for creationism. He adeptly critiques the limitations of the theory of evolution while simultaneously clarifying his position on the age of the Earth, claiming he is NOT a young earth creationist and emphasizing its compatibility with the Christian worldview. Moreover, meaning and the semantics of language suggest that there is intelligent design in the universe.
Justin Brierley, author and broadcaster, moderates a captivating Q&A session where Lennox shares profound insights on the problem of evil and articulates why Christianity stands apart from other religions. This enlightening discussion at the intersection of faith and science promises to broaden perspectives and elevate your understanding of our complex world.

    The biggest learning that I've come to in the last 12 months since giving up athiesm and doing a deep dive in apologetics is the realisation that there are multiple ways TO LOGICALLY arrive at not only God's existence but to the triune God that Jesus preached about. Athiesm is one of the most self refuting and illogical worldviews out there.

    Have you come to the Realization that Christ is the Life of Your Being, and not something in a man 2,000 years ago?? Through the false sense of the belief we are human mortal being, the purpose is to lie about the immortal omnipresence of God.... This false belief in a human mortal existence separate and apart from the Infinite Spirit of God Conscioisness that you truly are is what is meant to be OVERCOME..... We must Remove the False Mortal Image of a mortal ME separate and apart from God.... Every communication Unfolding from God within is to encourage the Spirit/Soul die to the False Sense of Mortal Self, as the Purpose of the Soul is to take Dominion over our only Adversary, the World Mind and it's thoughts tempting us to believe mortality/form/decay is reality.... Where everything mortal appears to be, Only the Infinite, Omnipresent Spirit of God is... I and the Father are One!! Once able to accept this mortal Experience is for the Immortal Soul and not the mortal sense of self, one ultimately comes to the Virginal Realization that the Spirit of God is the Only Life, and that I am the Infinte Spirit of God, as Jesus, John, Paul, Moses, Elijah, Buddha, Krishna, Lao Tzu, Shankara, Meister Eckhart, Madam Guyon, Fenelon, and many more have done....

    You do realise hes pushing a false interpretation of where the scientific community stands, he's making false claims as true and ignoring the fact that in science we do not deny god, we just don't bring a god into the equation because there is absolutely no evidence to suggest one and no reason to otherwise, unfortunately the followers of these videos often are brainwashed by religion to think complexity, design etc all need a creator when that is simply not true.

This closed minded idea that everything you experience has to have some intelligent creator is the result of your indoctrination when I can personally demonstrate how simple rules of nature can lead to very complex observations and outcomes without a designer, the laws of physics and universal constants set their own conditions for natural complexity, just because we do not know why these laws exist as they do does not mean we shout God, science does not need, use or consider a god as nothing observational or evident to imply there is one.

    @@aaronbenavides1169 You believe in magic. You have been brainwashed a million times without realizing it. Do you know what the true purpose of the church is? It's not to save your soul. Souls don't exist. They are magical body parts that don't correspond to reality. Many people in the world are under the delusion that souls exist, without ever investigating it to see if they're being misled or not. The purpose of the church is to scam people out of their wealth. They demand 10% of your income as a tithe, and more if they really don't care about hurting people. Kenneth Copeland was a charlatan long before he became a scam pastor. He's worth $800 million, owns several private jets, lives in a mansion, and doesn't pay a penny in taxes, because it's a church write-off. He makes money by lying to your grandmother and convincing her to fork over her limited income, such as a social security check. Every pastor or priest or imam or rabbi is some version of that. If they lie for money, they are frauds. If they do it under the false authority of cultural myths, the government gives them the right to swindle anyone they want for any amount, and never have to pay a tax on it. The founders' lack of foresight has ruined this country.

    John Lennox, thank you sir. It has been a great pleasure to listen to a Man of God, and science . He has opened so much for me. I am only just getting to know his work. Brilliant man! I am new in my relationship with Christ. I have been a Christian since i was incredibly young when introduced to Christianity. but took steps two years ago to really know, who Christ is, what exactly is Christianity outside of Religion. Amazing adventure so far. Two people Lennox and Hovind have made me realize just how God and science go hand and hand. I don't have to choose between the two...

    @@StudentDad-mc3pu bizarre? Preconceived refers to a point in time, such as a trial, etc. so if a judge decides on an outcome ahead of due process, such a decision would qualify as preconceived. To return to your own position, if someone believes in God it's preconception. Yet there are historic and scientifically investigated facts which we believers study before making up our minds. There is also written tradition: most of what we accept in our belief system relies on generations and generations of witnesses, credible ones at that. When you on the other hand decide to believe Dickie Dawkie on life coming out of "rock and sand", not only do you accept a preposterous idea, but also a very illogical one: we all know from observation that there is no tendency for stuff to come out of chaos and start evolving towards complex order. Yes, snow crystals do that, but they are not living matter. Everything degenerates in nature, nothing starts organizing spontaneously. Ever. So logic dictates that we look for causality, not far-fetched pseudo-plausibility.

Whether thats to push Christianity in your argument, or Islam, or even Atheism (as a belief system and therefore religion as pointed out in this). The problem here is the fact the two (beliefe and politics) are intersecting, and being used in a psychological way to try and garner votes. Of course life is never simple and things do overlap, but try to understand what it is you really object to. I think in this case its the imposing of politicians rather than the subject, I am sure you can think if other things they are pushing you are also not happy with. I’m still waiting for mr Dawkins to explain me how come that the oldest bee or a mosquito found in an amber is 130 million years old, looks the same as current mosquito and the oldest mammal is 200 million years old and from that single mammal size of a rat developed 6400 mammal subspecies and a mosquito and a bee are still mosquito and a bee.😮.

  • @rizdekd3912

    @rizdekd3912

    4 ай бұрын

    "oldest bee or a mosquito found in an amber is 130 million years old, looks the same as current mosquito " Dawkins doesn't need to explain that...I can. It's because one genepool (of mosquito or bee) never evolved so it looks the same. If no mutations end up changing the basic shape of mosquitos...they stay the same. It doesn't mean other gene pools that got separated didn't evolve. And the 'rat sized mammal' evolved into those different species...that's how it happened...ie through random gene mutations and gene pools becoming separated so one gene pool adapts one way and another evolves differently until they are so distinct that taxonomists name them different species. Consider. 2 to the 13th power is over 6400. That means 2 only has to be multiplied by itself 13 times. So...if one species divides and then those two evolve every, say, million years, in 14 million years, you'd have more than 6400 species. If it took 10 million years, then in one hundred and forty million years, you'd have that number of different species. And the current thinking is mammals...ie this little rat sized critter appeared 225 million years ago...so more than enough time if it happened every 10 million years. Now...could it happen? I don't know...but if God created life so it could evolve, then why not? Is God unable to...does he not have the wit to create life so it evolves?
